Does anyone know what is going on with this ride? I have been watching but the spot has been stopped all day a bit south of Jackson MS. Wondering and wishing them the best. Ahhh I see...technical difficulties. Funny I wrote the first part of the message then my computer started acting funny and a whole bunch of posts on this topic suddenly appeared and there was an explanation of what is going on with the spot. That's weird! Glad to see they're okay and the journey continues! Best Wishes guys!

A big thanks to Mike (Patriot) for taking timeout of his day to escort us up to Jackson, MS. It was great to meet you.

If there are any Spot 2 gurus, I am having issues where my Spot will not or cannot lock in a "GPS fix" so it can send tracks and messages. I've tried reboot and pulling & replacing batteries. I suspect it's bad, but not sure when I can talk to Spot to figure it out in my free time. I suspect there are people on here who know more than Spot cust svc anyway.

We made it to Michigan. Heading for somewhere in ND tomorrow. We're sitting at a little over 3400 miles as of tonight. Hopefully things keep running smoothly for us.

Thanks!

A friend of mine helped me work out the tracking issue. My Spot 2 appears to be dead, won't know for sure until I talk to Spot Customer Service.

In the meantime, I have setup my iPhone to track my trip and transmit to Spotwalla using Google Latitude. I set this up during dinner and did a test run during out last leg and it works. Only the tracking from here on out is going to display for the time being.

The link is still the same, but here it is again:

Tony,

North Dakota last night. Maybe TX tonight if things go well, Colorado if not?

So far, I(we) feel good. No issues with fatigue, soreness, etc. Getting real good rest at night. 5 hours and I feel well rested.

So, things are going well thus far. We've covered 4300 miles so far, which is pretty much 1/2 our projected total mileage. Another day or two of ~1000's and we'll be in real good shape.

Thanks for the interest,

Paul

That is great news.

I am sure by now you have seen the wet weather coming into play from the west.

Sometimes with (Your) North/South travel, you can time your travel to avoid such

conditions. The good thing is you have really ridden well and now the ride becomes

much more sceenic. I loved the West! I am taking off in a few hours for Iowa, so I will

have to catch up on your ride progress Monday.

Ride safe... it only gets better each day now. ENJOY!!!

woo hoo

amazing adventure by amazing dynamic duoy

Made a quick run over the Cascades to Yakima to give Paul and Mike an official welcome to Washington State - No. 48 on their adventure. We rode back towards Seattle about 110 miles and they turned north to meet up with escapefjrtist for a visit and then on up to the US/Canada Border for the evening.

They seem to be in good spirits and managing well. I can't imagine what they have been through these past several days. How great it will be for them to reflect on this Father and Son accomplishment long into in the future.

A much deserved "Congratulations" to both. :clapping:

Keep Going Paul and Mike! The best is yet to come......

A big thanks to Jim aka Mount Rainier for welcoming and escorting us through Washington. It was a pleasure to meet you and I only wish we'd had more time to talk. Hopefully we fix that someday!

We ran up through Seattle and George aka escapefjrtist took some time out of his busy schedule to stop and say hi and wish us well.

Up to the Sumas border crossing and I was lucky enough to be selected for additional questioning and having my bike searched. Deep down I knew it would be me, so I wasn't disappointed, or suprised.

We stopped in Hope, BC for the night. We have 831 miles left to ride to get to Hyder and 2 days to get it done. I like our odds right now.

Was great meeting you and Mike today Paul. Glad we were able to make it work out!

Since you're already safe and in the barn for the night, you must have had a relatively uneventful trip to the border...other than the additional screening. ;)

Take care, have a safe ride to Hyder and we'll see you on the road again!

I am sure you will remember this ride forever... Even the "Bad" times will make you

chuckle to yourself. Great accomplishment!!! AND with your father... Sooo cool !
