Which I've always wondered...how did Honda ST rider ever make a home here on a FJR site?
How'd you miss that story?

I apparently live under a rock! lol
Find the answer in someone else epic ride report here.

Those Honda design guys gotta stop the drugs. Jeeze...I really like that new CB1100! It is just cool; however, the new Valkyrie and that CTX 1300 thing are hideous. Not the entire bike really, but that terrible front cowling thing they just slapped on there to put some kind of FB6 GoldWing look on them.

Hondas have been taking a huge dump since about 2004, and it doesn't seem to be getting any better. Their bikes, for the most part are ugly and overpriced. Except for their dirt bikes and CBRs, and that CB1100, I wouldn't own any of the others. That's a shame really, cuz they used to be cool.

Like them or not at least Honda is offering some new choices unlike the boys with the tuning forks. OK we did get a 3 cylinder bike that is real close to the FZ's but not much else to look at. I don't care for the Valkyrie, ctx thing or the F6B but he guys who ride the 6b say it handles much better than a Wing. No cruise is just stupid, but look how long it Yammie to put it on the Feejeer and they still don't offer color choices.

Ahhhhhh....so Dad's the smart one eh?! Sheesh, kids these days. They just never learn!!!

Actually, and I hate to admit this, but Redfish Hunter was the smart one. His dad gave him the money and said "Go find me a bike." He did the research and figured the FJR was the perfect bike for dad. So they got the FJR. Well, maybe dad was indeed the smart one. Got son to do all the work and apparently raised his son to pick a good bike. I dunno, it's a toss up. Just don't tell RH that I said he was smart.

Don't worry my friends. I have been married far too long to ever feel smart.

I was just on the phone with Dad and we were discussing this ugly bike, my ugly bike and the new FJR. I want that new FJR badly but it is a big disruption to The Plan. The Plan has me getting a dual sport and spending some time with my son doing some dirtbike camping things. So far I have not been doing well with The Plan.

I really think I could make a fortune as a consultant for Honda. Apparently you don't have to know anything about the American Motorcycle Market to be part of Honda's design team.

FWIW my GoldWing riding cousin likes the F6B but has no idea what this Valkyrie thing is good for.

If there's an ugly motorcycle award, guess who just won top prize?

+1 ....its the AMC Pacer of the motorcycle world.

Not only is it ugly, it runs 0-60 in 4 1/2 hrs @ 16 mpg.

Another eye blight of a road cruiser that chrome and paint can't fix, just like Honda and Victory. Some things are just born fugly.

I think it's fair to say that just about anything from Studebaker, Rambler and American Motors could be included in the fugly fest.

I did spend some time with a 390 CID AMX and it could be made to fly with the best of them. It was a hollow, noisy tin can with no redeeming interior features so cutting it up to be a go-fast car didn't really matter.

and then there's this
I think that's the model Joey Chitwood used to make that barrel-roll ramp-to-ramp jump that made it's way into a James Bond flick. He was based here in Buffalo (Hamburg) and I saw the ramps he used.

I think the new Valk reminds me of a pregnant teenager:

Her face is glowing, but the rest is just swollen and slow. And when I look at her, I can't help but think "It's a darn shame - she had her whole life ahead of her. Now it's going to be a long and difficult road ahead...."

Is that an early version of the Safari Family Truckster??
Doesn't count, the Truckster is a one-off built to showcase everything wrong with Detroit's design and style from the '70s. Then after the movie was made they went to work for Victory and finally graduated to Honda bringing the same design skills along for the ride.

I like the 2003 Valkyrie -- the new one in post 1, not so much.

I was riding one day with a friend who rode a Valkyrie Interstate. We were on a ferry going across Lake Eerie when guy walked over and said "I was in the Navy with a guy named Val Kyrie. Was that you?" It took us both a few seconds to realize he'd seen "Valkyrie" on the bike's trunk and thought that was the guy's name.

OK. Sorry for the thread jack.

Carry on

Looks like Honda has taken several styling cues that rub me the wrong way and wrapped them all up in one BF ugly motorcycle. Not in my house!

It's called marketing. I don't know that I want one but there are a lot more six cylinder Honda's on the road with far fewer issues than there will ever be from any of the competition.
