I'm coming back from seeing my daughter at JMU (Harrisonburg VA) this Sat and I'm tooling along a two lane road - nice arching curves - and looking for the T intersection to put me on Rt 17. Come off of a nice left hand curve at probably 60 - 65 and the road ahead looks funny, doesn't look like it continues. OH **** (yup, pretty sure I actually said that)...that huge red thing says STOP and there are cars whizzing by just on the other side. Well, as you can imagine I grabbed every braking device I could find and squeezed/tromped as hard as I could! Interesting, I did notice the ABS burping, farting, and jumping around, also noticed that there seemed to be two distinct "moments" to the bucking bronco - the quick pace I'm used to in a car, but then there seemed to be a longer pause between wackage also. I "assume" the front and back operate on distinct schedules. Bottom line I stopped in a dead straight line right where I needed to - glad I got the ABS.

 Glad to hear it! After hearing about all the downed bikes lately in my area and online, it's nice to hear some positive news. I'm glad the ABS brakes work and that you and your FJR are unscathed. I'm also glad that I will soon have my own FJR complete with ABS brakes. Enjoy!

Great to hear that! ABS was on my list of "gotta have it" things when I was deciding what I wanted to get. In an emergency I know that I'm probably going to react like you, and having ABS may be the difference between stopping short and sliding into some pain.

Yea, my abs has fired a couple times. It'll scare you the first time if you aren't use/expecting it. I'm glad I have that option ;) It kinda reminded me of when I had just bought my cruiser (first and only one--a vstar 1100). I took it out on it's first maiden voyage and the first real left lean-in turn and the floorboard scraped--It scared me to death, I had absolutely no idea of what happened, I thought maybe I had torn the rear gear up or something. I pulled off the side of the road and got off the bike and looked, pondered and cussed and finally figured out what I had done  Ha stupid me, that is when I started wondering if I had made the right decision buying a cruiser. I liked it for the 1 and a half years I had it. Would like to have another cruiser, but I can unfortunately afford only one bike at a time.

I know what you mean. Glad you weren't hanging it out too far. I want to get my stainless braided lines on mine this Spring. TJ
