**REMOVAL OF 3M REFLECTIVE**

Use heat, blow drier, heat gun (using common sense)

I've pulled off a set by letting the bag get hot from setting in the sun, then work ant one corner and SLOWLY pull the decals off.

Then, if there is any marks on the perimeter of where the decal was, you can use goo-gone, or simply WD-40.

Hope this helps.

I see these decals are printed. Are they laminated to protect the ink from running in the rain? I've dealt with printed products before that were not and what a mess that can turn out to be!

Yes. They are rainproof. Don't think too many of us would be singing their praise if they weren't.

However............don't let gasoline get on them. Don't ask me how I know this.

I've replaced the foil used in creating the red version with a darker red. It now matches the 07 Black Cherry perfectly. The one's on my bags, and the ones in the 2 pictures have a slight orange tint and I wasn't satisfied.

Everyone that ordered the version 5 received, or will receive the correct color changes.

Looks like I'll get to practice pulling off my decals this weekend

Thanks

My #5's came in today and they look great! Now if I can just get the replacement bag out of the insurncce company :dribble: , I'll get to putting them on :D

As far as tasteful and extremely functional farkles go, for less than 23 bucks, delivered, you simply cannot beat these saddlebag reflectors. If you do any night time riding whatsoever, I HIGHLY recommend them.
+1K This product from Alex is IMO considered a MUST HAVE safety farkle for your FJR. :dribble:
Nice to know Skyway is spending some on farkles too ;)
:dribble: - I don't even want to think about how much $ I've spent on farkles for the FJR.

+1 on not using any water during the install, and going strong 2+years later. What say you Alex?

Uh, you maybe could have bought another FJR with the farkling money spent. Especially with all the electronics added.

Alex is da'man....beautiful product and super fast shipment. These are a no-brainer, and the v5 looks awesome for us darkcherrycola types....

This was the very first farkle I put on my 08! :clapping:

I think Yamaha should do this from the factory!... purchasing through Alex, of course.

Absolutely a must. Came from a GoldWing that had seven lights on the back so I was feeling a little "under lit" with the FJR. Not anymore! They really light up the back of the bike. Went on nice and easy and they are almost invisible during the day (I have the plain ones). As an added bonus Alex was great to deal with.

You MUST install them dry. I tested it with a water and alcohol mix, and it completely disables the adhesion. Here is a little insert from 3M's description

"3M™ Engineer Grade Reflective Sheeting Series 3270 with pressure sensitive adhesive backing is a durable material with enclosed lens glass beads, designed to be used where maximum brightness at night is not required and in areas of light traffic with little ambient lighting. Application to standard traffic sign substrates with a hand or pneumatic squeeze roller applicator"

It has a pressure sensitive backing, so if you don't have it aligned on the bags, you can "snap" is off the surface using a swift motion. (that is if you haven't pressed it down)

I simply align the top 1/2 of the decal on the edge of the bag, then using my thumb, I slide side to side working incrementally down the entire decal, and I’ve put on quite a few kits without any bubbles.

I'm in the process of posting a page dedicated to simple clean install instructions.

Thanks everyone for your support, and yes. I love the new 07 and plan on racking up lots of miles with her.

All I know is when I attempted to install my first set dry, I had terrible problems getting them correctly aligned and all the bubbles out. If I tried to pick them up and move them, they wouldn't come off the bag without tearing. Once it was clear they were ruined, I tried to remove them completely and they were stuck like, well, glue.

Based on my experience with tank protection film, I tried a 10% alcohol mix with water and that worked great. I could slide them around and get all the bubbles out. Once they dried, they were on for keeps and have been rock solid ever since.
