I lost the nut spring that secures the SS bolt on the front corner of the panel over the battery. The Yamaha part number is 90183-050A6-00, and I found plenty, but the part itself is less than $2.00, but shipping is $17.00???? WTF???

Does anyone have a source online that drops them into an envelope that's NOT gold-lined?

Here you are:$1.61 + $6.95 shiping = $8.56..Not $19..

Most places have free shipping over a certain amount.

Combine it with something else you ( will ) need.

I ALWAYS need tires.

Thank you! Still bad to pay over 3X the cost of the part for shipping, but much better than $17 !

Ask your Yamaha dealer? The next time you order something add it to the order. My local hardware store sells spring nuts.

Any hardware store or big box building supply store should have something that will work. It may not look exactly the same, but it will do the job.

I lost the exact same nut. I walked into the service department and asked a mechanic if he had one in his junk draw. He did, and gave it to me. You can slip a $5 bill in his hand for the favor. He'll never forget you after that. Works every time. :)

I will try lowes, I'm sure they have a similar clip, just not sure that the thread pitch is common?

Those clips are fairly common. You may want to try another brand dealership. I work at a Harley shop and we always have those odd fasteners laying around, sometimes from accident repairs, sometimes from accessory kits that contain extra parts. In case of Harley they make kits to fit multiple models so the kit often contains parts not needed for a particular model and we hang onto them for this type of situation. As noted earlier, mechanics often have spares among their personal items.

It's prolly 4mmx1.0. I keep a couple of spares around. Dealer might have it in stock for reasonable over ordering it online.

thank you! I will go by Lowe's after work....just hate to go there because the 79-cent purchase ends up in $300 of stuff I probably didn't need!

IIRC that is a 5 x .8 mm screw. That is almost identical to a number 10-32 screw. If you cannot find a 5mm spring nut try a 10-32. The problem I have encountered is the physical size of the spring nuts in hardware stores and auto parts stores.

That particular spring clip come off almost every time I get in there. I've been fortunate not to fully lose it yet as I've learned it lands in the same spot in the tupperware below it.

Yes, keeping a spare or two around is a wise idea!

You know, I used the term "lost it", but as you mentioned it just "fell". However, I think that after disrobing the entire bike and putting it back together to install a Fuzeblock and several runs of 12ga primary wire, I was just fed up with being in a cold garage! I have NOT ridden the bike, so I KNOW the clip is there SOMEWHERE.....but where?? I took the battery out, in the hopes it would give me a clear shot, but it seems like the clip fell forward of the battery compartment. Maybe I need to re-group and actually LOOK for it! Where does it normally fall?

very possible, I guess I will have to go "hunting" for that thing. I KNOW for a fact it's in there somewhere, but as usual in these matters....it's probably in the most remote, least accessible spot! LOL!
