I'm sorry, but totally worthless article. Yes, people drive fast on a road from point A to point B.

So?

Fastest road? I don't think so. I know someone who rode faster on road xyz in the state of abc.

The journalistic equivalent of phlegm imo.

ALDAWG, Wheatie is just being pissy because everybody in Illinois drives like an Old Feck! Thanks to SkooterG and his DaddyDon, we have made Arizona Number One and Number Five. Though, I don't understand how they missed our 110mph average on Interstate 10!

5. Arizona State Route 77

Heading North out of Tucson up to the AZ-76/Redington Road interchange near San Manuel Airport

Average speed of fastest 5%: 81 mph

Top speed clocked by INRIX: 81 mph

Length of corridor: 4.8 miles

1. Northbound Arizona State Route 79

Between Saguaro National Park and Phoenix

Average speed of fastest 5%: 88 mph

Top speed clocked by INRIX: 94 mph

Length of corridor: 17.6 miles

The fastest people averaging up to 80-85 mph? :dribble: I live 3/4 away across the country and I'm still terrified after reading that. Plus someone actually drove 94 mph on a public road? There is a candidate for the electric chair :assassin: What about states that already have 80 mph speed limits on their roads?

Err, what I meant to say is I believe that if you monitor any major road around the country those speeds would be conservative. I've been in bumper to bumper CA rush hour traffic where the entire herd was going an average 80-85 mph. I'm pretty sure that if someone were to monitor all major roads near me here in tiny New England, every 24 hours, on every road, someone would exceed the 94 mph mark.

When you write for Forbes you don't get paid unless you write. Any old thing, as long as you write. Sensational sells. Authors always write best when they are writing something that they have a clue about.

I know, I regularly do triple digits 1 mile from my house, and it's just a 2 lane road goin downtown. :clapping:

yea, pretty much a non-article. The distances are so short it's a "who cares" type of thing. I was looking for roads many hundreds of miles long so to be able to make some time in relative safety. And I agree with beemerdons, most of I-10 west of San Antonio is 85+

Aldawg, until this January my brother was a cop in Norwalk and I got in some cruiser time with him. Let me tell you, according to the speed standards that article cited, all of south west Ct would qualify as the #1 to #10 fastest roads in the country.

There was a stretch of experimental road in Arizona (Utah? naw, AZ) that was POSTED at 90 or 95 for about 10 miles on our trip last Sept.

Then their was Tom and Rob running about 110+ across Montana FOR AN HOUR! I ran about 105 letting them birddog for me. I think they had finished lunch by the time I got there.

Haha, except for my evening commute crawl home every night.

Yup, I'll vouch for the M5 connector, although that whole mixing bowl ( I275, I96, I696) moves right smartly. The Livonia constabulary makes some good money off those that carry that mindset a little too far down 275. ;)

Oh yeah? I went 7 bazillion lightyears per hour on Hwy 50 in Nevada...so there.
That WAS some good **** you were tokin' after Middlegate, eh? By the way, Frank (my FZ1) had no trouble touching 161 on Karl's favorite road Hwy 120 East of hwy 395 :p

Wheatie wasn't token, GPS certified.

 161 on 120, was that on lift off or touch down.
