HEY !!!

I don't think it's fair to the ferrets. Please don't insult them.

Ya never know - you might end up with one in your pants ........ :p

If this Ferret Flaming continues, I'll have no choice but to report you to PETA .....

(gee - then maybe some nude models will come protest on your front lawn ...)

down2, I got to agree with you---1st time ever. I have had experience with the sort of arrogance you refer to---both from BMW owners & dealers. With some Harley types too. Seems everybody on this thread's in the mood for a "celebrating tolerance for divervsity"circle jerk rather than some truth, muddy as it is.

And I've met arrogant jerks on FJRs, FZ1s, CBRs, GSXs, ZXs, NT650s, even one on a Squariel.

They are not limited to one brand nor do they dominate one brand.

Besides, I thought downy was just trying to find a bike that suited his persoanlity...

Or, it could have nothing to do with the brand of bike the rider is on, but is part of the group think /pack metality of some people .

For instance, look at all the Western Garb sold to those who never come any closer to a cow or horse than pictures at the local "Cowboy Bar". How about the Harley emblems/decals on cars or T-shirts when the owner doesn't even own a bike? The examples are endless. I travel with riders on all types and years of bikes. We don't care, only that we are enjoying the ride and one another. Then there are those who only ride with "cruisers" or "tourers" or "choppers" or "Kawis" or "Goldwings"......ad infinitum, ad nauseum!

I plan to let them continue to be jerks. But I will still stop and help them if I see them broken down at the side of the road. We are all just motorcyclists, right?

BTW, one of the most helpful dealers I've been to was the BMW dealer. When shopping for an air compressor to fit in the tool tray of the FJR, they unwrapped 3 different ones and said, "Take them outside and try them." I wasn't treated any different by the crown of BMW ownrs there, either. I was just another biker on the parking lot. Of course, I couldn't partake in their discussions about the farkles on their bikes...not much different than when a few FJR owners get together.

I called the local BMW dealer to check on the Autocom sale. They told me they had the units in stock AND would install it free with purchase. Never asked me what kind of bike I was planning to put it on. If only my local Yammie dealer was so nice...

madmike, sure. Brands aren't arrogant, people are. It may be that some brands attract more buyers who are most interested in satisfying their "lust for notice" above all else and think those brands help'm do that. Some of'm refer to us as riders of "rice burners".Am sure you know the type.

I have met and talked to a lot of BMW riders over the years and they do seem to have a higher percentage of riders that are a bit "aloof" to those of us riding other brands but usually not to the point of being rude. In return, I have silently laughed at some of those riders when everything they own seems to have the BMW logo stamped on it. One thing that is impressive with BMW riders is their riding skills, motorcycling knowledge, and the miles they put on their bikes. I have only ridden with one BMW rider that I thought needed some coaching to improve his riding skills but he was a fairly new rider and a very friendly and likeable person off the bike.

Greetings to All. Sorry I missed the commotion. I was out on my new K1200s riding down to Beverly Hills to pick up my new Rolex. Seriously! It has been a fairly good year for my medical practice!

As for attitude, I would only say that the BMW owners I have met are proud of their bikes, just like FJR owners! And I firmly agree that the BMW dealership I dealt with out in Ventura, CA was the nicest dealer I have ever dealt with, and they did not know I was a doctor! I wish that they also sold Yamaha so I would be happy to go to the Yamaha dealer.

Since I now own one of each, I am double proud!

As for someone "trolling around," may they turn over a new leaf with the new year! And if they don't, I will wave to them as I pass them on my new ZX-10R which I will be getting mid-January!

Sorry to gloat, just feeling very happy and content and proud to be a member of this forum!

Happy New Year to all!

There is a late-generation vBulletin forum software  that we use at Fireblades.org that has a feature that I would dearly love to be implement here: the "Miserable User" function.
When place into the "Miserable Users" group:

- There is a random 60-120 second delay each time they click on a link.

- 90% of times they have no search engine acccess.

- 75% of the times they get the server too busy error.

If they don't get the server too busy error:

- 50% of the times they may get a blank page

- 30% of the times they may get forwarded to the forum main page

- 20% of the time they may be able to see the page they asked for.

We have only a small number of forum members that I would place in this group, but concur with others that downer2 would be at the top of the list.
OMG, that explains what hapens at another forum I frequently lurk around :dribble:

I would like to add that BMW owners don't have the patten on *** hole.

I would like to list every bike/truck/car/gun manufacturer and say that they all have brand loyal biggets that think anyone who buys something different is stupid.

I own a Dodge Ram Diesel. I have had numerous Chevy and Ford guys tell me how much better the Chevy Diesel or Ford Body is better. Whatever.

At the gun range, I own 1911 Springfield and Kimber. With gun guys they accept this just fine but when I pull out my Glock oh my I have just betrayed the country and they won't touch the thing. Whatever. I can't tell them that my glock is the go to gun in my book as it has never jammed and is even more accurate and easier to shoot.

I have friends that own Harleys and 2 in particular own Japanese 4 wheelers but would never own a Jap street bike and never did until they recently could buy a Harley.

The one brother has never had his brand new Road King run correctly after putting on expensive pipes and jetting the stock carb. They told him he needs mikuni carbs imagine that. The other brother is the same way but complains that his Harley has no guts but he wouldn't dream of owning my bike.

This crap is like Politics, you are never going to get away from it. If you own a Harley you are going to have those that immediately figure you don't approve of them just because you own a Harley. Prejudice like this is no different than racism yet people are free to voice this prejudice.

Ride, drive, shoot, buy, marry, whatever and whoever you want and be happy with your decision. Let other people think whatever they want, they will anyway...
