Ah, that warms my heart, ISZ is buying fitter an Xmas present!
Great idea! Hard to focus on keeping up with him when he has his moments! For myself, I'll just get the 2013 FJR!...problem solved!
I was getting distracted waiting at every corner for you to catch up.

There is this thing on the right side called a throttle. If you twist it the bike will go faster.

When Bungie goes faster he just gets lost sooner.

Turn signals ehh? so that's what the left switch is for. A couple weeks ago I found one on the right side (under the bar for the vita cruise) that flashes all 4. I guess this is for when you are lost and don't yet know which way to turn.

I finally had a good use for the flashers last weekend. Riding with the wife on her 2004 Honda 600 Shadow, she ran out of gas and didn't know how to turn the petcock to reserve. I was glad to have the flashers on while stopped on the side of the freeway at night, giving her instructions on how to go to reserve!

I remember the days of bikes sputtering while rolling through an intersections and just instinctively reaching down and switching the tank to reserve. Now we're spoiled by fancy fuel gauges with count-up tripmeters to indicate reserve range.

About "never" forgetting to cancel the turn signals--here are a few things I DON'T "never" forget to do:
1. Cancel my turn signals.

2. Put the kickstand up before shifting into gear.

3. Take the ignition key out of my pocket before I'm gloved up and sitting on the bike.

4. Ditto buckling my helmet before the gloves are on.

5. Turn off the ignition after killing the engine with the kill switch (but only once. So far.)

Of course, I'm a little older than some of you guys.

@SacramentoMike: I have NEVER, NEVER, NEVER done any of those five items -- NEVER in my life. If my riding buddy tells you that I do ALL five of those items at least once or twice a week, then he is lying, I tell you! If he tells you that I leave my turn signal blinking at least a couple times every time we ride, then he is lying!!!! I would NEVER leave my turn signal blinking. That is dangerous since it sends the wrong message to cars around me. In addition, that would just annoy the crap out of my riding buddy until he catches up to me and does the "blinking" hand signal. Talking about annoying, it is so annoying when he catches up to me and does that stupid hand signal. It is also so annoying that a big company like Yamaha can't put a turn signal canceler on such a nice bike. Damn... alright, where do I purchase the turn signal canceler???

Holy thread resurrection Batman! SacMike probably doesn't even remember typing that. He thought he was old then!!

Birdman, I just read a recent thread today on STS that Johnd and others have purchased.

I hate it when someone gets on the comms and says, "um.....Wheaton, yer blinkie thing is still blinking."

Hate that...especially when strangers you just met do that. Ha t e. That. :D

wheatonFJR: Thank you for your kind post. People smack you around here on this board. If I ask a question, people reply with "You should have searched the forums because this thread way back here answers your question" (no, it ddin't). Then, when I find an answer since I searched the threads very carefully and read every line, I get smacked for resurrecting an old thread. Why don't people answer questions and play nice? I just bought a 2015 FJR and, damn it, it does not have automatic turn signal canceling. It seems like an easy function for Yamaha to include.

Alright, I just got smacked for resurrecting a 2012 thread. Fine. Let's talk about the current situation. I just bought a 2015 FJR and, just like in 2012, it does not have an auto turn signal canceler. I routinely leave my turn signal on at least once or twice during a long ride with friends. I can't believe that Yamaha has not fixed this problem. It seems like it would be a tiny manufacturing cost, especially compared to the cruise control, ABS, traction control, and all of the other cool features.

So, now I need to buy an auto turn signal canceler and install it. What is the current situation with auto turn signal cancelers for the FJR? What is the best price and/or easiest installation?

Yet you didn't heed his advice about there being a thread today? It's sitting near the top of Part and Accessories dude!

You are just lucky it wasn't Friday.

PM DesignFlaw. He just installed and tested one at the Geeks test day last weekend.

Nah, you weren't smacked, and don't worry about it. Personally, I think anybody that resurrects a zombie thread gets minor accolades, because they WERE researching.

I have found the Standard Search to be less than helpful, and Google doesn't bring up anything recent. ("auto cancel turn signals site:fjrforum.com")

Try the Advanced Search (gear icon to the right of the search box). Searching "auto cancel turn signals" -- with the quotation marks -- in titles and content, all authors, all dates, produces 4 hits. Variations of the search phrase will likely produce a different crop of results.

As for getting smacked around here, if you haven't gotten smacked a half-dozen times, you're still an FNG.

I put a signal minder on my '08 AE last year. It went on when I was doing other custom wire harnessing up front with the headlight nacelle off. Since the signal minder also has the emergency 4 way flasher option, I was able to re-purpose the hazard switch on the right handlebar to enable the signal minder without the key in the ignition. There is a lot less current draw running the 4 way flasher when the rest of the bike is powered off. The re-purposed switch triggers a relay and uses the backup circuit for its source. My TPMS display is also wired up in this fashion, I can check the tire pressure reading without having to turn on my ignition.
