Seems somewhat unbelievable, however, I received a call from my bosses wife the other day. She wanted to know if I would install an Autocom system on her and my boss's bikes. As payment she offered to purchase one for me as well. The deal includes an Autocom Super Pro Automatic, all required cables for Zumo, iPod, push to talk and cable for an Icom radio. The deal also includes an Icom F21 radio, remote antenna and bike powered power pack for the Icom.

Of course I said yes very quickly and got everything on order. I when through Keith at Tulsa Truck Center. He has been great to work with.

I have read about every post here I can get my hands on. Here is what I am planning. Any suggestions or corrections are welcome:

1) Install BlueSea fuse block under seat with 12V relay switched off of blue wire running to tail lights.

2) Install Autocom in space provided for factory tool kit or in the box just behind that.

3) Install Icom radio under seat and run antenna wire out the back and use a license plate mount for antenna.

4) Run 2 Zumo wires and 1 iPod (audio) wire down left side of bike under tank and back to Autocom. Zumo and audio wires are filtered just in case.

5) Run power and ground wire from battery down right side of bike under tank to BlueSea fuse block.

6) Run Push to Talk wires from handlebar down left side of bike to Autocom. I don't have this piece yet so not exactly sure what is needed with this.

I am open to suggestions if I am missing anything, also if anyone has pictures of their install they would be willing to share to give me ideas I would be grateful. I really want a clean install that looks factory when it is done.

On my bosses bike I am installing his system on his Boulevard in the right saddle bag. I did this for his son that rides with me. He went to the Arctic Circle this summer with this set up and loved it. I'll be installing the boss's wife's Autocom into a tank bag.

Luckily I live near Tulsa and bought all of my Autocom stuff directly from Keith. He showed me some of his install handywork and such while I was there and he definitely knows his stuff. For your install it sounds as though you have it layed out pretty good. I also put all of mine under the seat but instead of the Icom, I used a handheld Cobra CB. The CB option doesn't work the best, but since all of my riding buddies use CB, I had to get it to work. I also installed some remote volume and squelch controls up front. I have the AE so I don't have quite as much room under the seat as you, but overall it worked out very well and there is a perfect place to mount it. I do alot of wiring and such myself so I didn't use any special fuse blocks, but I did run separate power and ground to all devices and run them through a relay so I can turn the system on with the key, or on all the time. I don't have any pictures, but could get some for you. I have different devices, but similar. I have a generic GPS, Blackberry, MP3 player, and CB along with rider and passenger phone interfaces.

Where did you end up locating the Autocom? I have a couple of places in mind but not 100% sure. I like where the factory tool kit is. I think I could just as easily locate the tool kit to the back of the bike. Other location is just in the tray. In either location I would probably stand the unit up and Velcro it to the side of the plastic tray. Seems the adjustment knobs would be easier to reach as well with it standing up.

I'll try to take some pics of mine tomorrow, but I believe the tray is different on the A vs. AE. Mine doesn't really have a tray under the driver seat, it just has the computer there, and I think the A it's tucked down lower. So my Autocom lays flat on top of the computer and there is a bungee that holds it there. There is also a cutout in the side of the tray that lines up perfectly for all the wires. It basically looks like it was made to be there,,, but the adjustments are on the side and not real easy to get to, but once it is set up correctly, it's not an issue.

I have the AutoCom & fuse block under the seat, with the radio in the back by the tail light, strapped down with the rubber strap for a U-lock. PTT switch, usually set to VOX unless I'm riding in heavy winds that make VOX problematic.

I put my Autocom in this location, it fits perfectly with just a little bit of trimming.

That is where I put my Autocom. I then ran the phone wire and the Ipod wire into the glovebox when I dont need them they jsut stay in there and it is just a bit of a stretch to get them from the glovebox to the handlebar (I have a mount for the phone and the ipod right by the left switches) but it works fine.

This is the install I wanted but found the Automatic is longer than the AVI. I can stand it up ok where the tool kit is though. I do like your location better though.

Here's how I mounted my Autocom: click

Thank you for the information. I will look it over. Quite the setup.

I was going to leave my iPod in the glove box as well. My phone will be bluetooth to the Zumo 550 so it usually stays in my pocket or tail bag.

I was going to leave it in the glove box also however I found I wanted to change the volume too much IE riding on interstate VS in town VS talking with other riders at stop lights...

Sorry it took so long, here is my install. Like I said, the space under the rider seat is different on the AE, but here it is.

CB under plastic to keep dry. Notice all my rain gear around it as well.

Blackberry mount with autocom push to talk controls just under it.

MP3 mount with room for other goodies. I didn't take a picture of my GPS, but it's pretty much the same hookup.

Great! Thank you so much!

Do you mind if I ask you a question about your push-to-talk? We could go PM or email whichever you prefer. I am confused on a couple of thing with the Automatic.
