Seems somewhat unbelievable, however, I received a call from my bosses wife the other day. She wanted to know if I would install an Autocom system on her and my boss's bikes. As payment she offered to purchase one for me as well. The deal includes an Autocom Super Pro Automatic, all required cables for Zumo, iPod, push to talk and cable for an Icom radio. The deal also includes an Icom F21 radio, remote antenna and bike powered power pack for the Icom.
Of course I said yes very quickly and got everything on order. I when through Keith at Tulsa Truck Center. He has been great to work with.
I have read about every post here I can get my hands on. Here is what I am planning. Any suggestions or corrections are welcome:
1) Install BlueSea fuse block under seat with 12V relay switched off of blue wire running to tail lights.
2) Install Autocom in space provided for factory tool kit or in the box just behind that.
3) Install Icom radio under seat and run antenna wire out the back and use a license plate mount for antenna.
4) Run 2 Zumo wires and 1 iPod (audio) wire down left side of bike under tank and back to Autocom. Zumo and audio wires are filtered just in case.
5) Run power and ground wire from battery down right side of bike under tank to BlueSea fuse block.
6) Run Push to Talk wires from handlebar down left side of bike to Autocom. I don't have this piece yet so not exactly sure what is needed with this.
I am open to suggestions if I am missing anything, also if anyone has pictures of their install they would be willing to share to give me ideas I would be grateful. I really want a clean install that looks factory when it is done.
On my bosses bike I am installing his system on his Boulevard in the right saddle bag. I did this for his son that rides with me. He went to the Arctic Circle this summer with this set up and loved it. I'll be installing the boss's wife's Autocom into a tank bag.
