Good Job, guys ('n gals). :D

Well, my plans for a gentle ride this morning were denied- it was more like a quick jump.. yup, the snatch was back and almost ****** me off !

gonna have to have Marcus come here and see what he thinks after he takes her down the back alley --- maybe a freshly lubed shaft is the way to go ?

He's also got a new nipple that he wants to try - the original is leaking

Oh, and he wants me to be more aggressive when I'm riding - hang on until the revs build and really get the fluids circulating before changing it up

If the snatching is there when moving from rest, you'll have real problems in slow manoeuvring.
Your FJR should be just as happy moving like a *****(cat) as when roaring like a lion.

It needs fixing, it should be as smooth as butter.

I was just up in Seattle (my house, now a rental is there) to check on things. I'll be riding up this summer. Any tech days planned for the non-rainy 6 weeks? ;)

I'm a firm believer that lube solves all problems with a sticking snatch. I mean there is no beating around the bush anymore. We are going to have to penetrate to the heart of this problem, and actually do a proper soak and rub-down. Once the thrust bearing is exposed, this shouldn't be a problem anymore.

Snatch update -

Marcus came over last night to try out my snatch for himself. He took it for a ride, getting ****** in the process.

He tried a few things and left it to cool off until the morning. He spent the evening researching jerking and snatches on the internet

This afternoon, following Marcus's recommendations, I let the bike warm up on the center-stand, then held it on the rear brake, in gear, while giving a bit of throttle a couple of times. Result was a smooth take-off and an enjoyable ride with no jerking.

Either we have solved the issue permanently, or we've at least found a warm up routine that gets through the issue before hitting the road. I'll try again tomorrow from cold and see if snatch is gone without the "rev against the brake" routine.

I guess this just underscores the need for proper foreplay to get everything properly warmed up and the fluids flowing before trying to ride ...

Maybe you can help me out here. I'm trying to come up with another word for "snatch", four letters.

Nevermind, I got it! Grab.

Here's hoping you've found a cure for that grabby clutch.
