So far, so good. A few thousand on the rear. Everything from cold wet in the twisties to full all out thrashing in the dry. Trying them on a track day next week. No idea of mileage yet.

I have had the Avon Spirit ST's on my 08 since April. Took them to the Texas Hill Country in June for their initial test drive. So far I like them. Good traction in the twisties and smooth ride. Got into a small rain shower for about 5 miles and had no problems. Will be headed to Arkansas this fall for the real lean angle test. Once I run them down Push Mountain road and back I will let ya'll know how they do. But my initial impressions are good.

Love them so far. Great tires. If I get decent milage out of them my PR2 days will be over.

Just checked my favorite tire purveyors, Rider Domain (used to be known as Jake Wilson, still also DBA Rocky Mountain ATV) and these Avon tires are available there at a smoking good price of $200 a set shipped. There is a $40 Avon rebate. Think I better get some on order before they sell out.

I believe I paid $239.00 which is still a lot cheaper than PR2's.

The Spirits apparently replace the Avon Storm 3D XM's that I have run for the past three years with great success. They both show up on the Avon website, but many vendors are showing them as closeouts. The $200 price is a good buy. I notice that Avon has dropped their 15,000 miles treadware warranty. 
I guess I'll try a set of Spirits after I return from EOM, I have the Storms on now and will replace them with a set of PR4's between the Reuben Run and EOM when Festar and I make a quick Pit Stop in Spearfish.

Received my Avon Spirits already. Arrived by FedEx this afternoon ordered just 2 days ago. That, my friends, is the kind of free shipping you want. The Rider Domain people are good to deal with.
I'm impressed with their looks. The rear looks extra meaty and the front looks kind of narrow with a sharp profile. Will have to see what they look like when on the rim and inflated. Rubber compound feels very tacky, which is confidence inspiring.
Wear bars are "interesting". Unlike some prior Avons, these do have wear bars, but they are a little tricky to find. Just look at the bottom of the tread grooves in line with the "Spirit" lettering along the edge of the tread. The front ones are really wide. The back ones are kind of hidden.
My current tires (Michelin PR2 rear, Bridgestone T30 GT front) are not even near being done yet. I only bought these now because they were such a bargain. Checked the date codes and they were made nearly a year ago. Still, should be no problem waiting a few months or even until next season to put them on. Other than my own anxiousness that is...

Well it's friday and a long week. I was running a little late this morning so I hit the twisties a lillte hard this morning. 65 to 70 in a posted 30 mph zone. I will have to say these tires do give you confidence. They hold the road well.

Forgot to mention this earlier, but while eyeballing the new Avons, I couldnt see any sort of a balance mark anywhere on them. How did they balance out for you?

If I remember correctly. No weights on the rear and (2) 10 grams or whatever the ten is for on the front. I didn't go back and try and spin the tire on the rirm like I have in the past.
I was lacking my anal atentiveness that day.

I just fitted these tires yesterday. I got 13,000 miles out of my Storm 3D's, so hoping for something similar from these. Mileage reports to follow.

As I've said before, These tires rock.
I did a full track day last week and the tires worked extremely well. I did drop the pressures to 35 front & rear (normally run
40 & 42 on the street) and they balled up like a full race tire. They stuck and wore crazy good.

Well I have some not so good news to report on these tires. I just returned from Nova Scotia round trip 2.5K miles. I developed a head shake in the handle bars between 40-60 MPH. I never had that issue with the PR2's. It was quite annoying since that was the speeds we mostly traveled at. I am sure if I let go of the the handle bars it would go into a full tank slapping condition. Over 60 MPH they started to smooth out without the shake. Tire wear seems to be normal other than flat spotting them since the twisties were lacking and we were mostly in Picture taking mode. I am not sure if it is the difference in the tread of the tire or not. The PR2's are symetrical and do not have so much of an alternating pattern.
Just thought I would report my experience.

Back to some good news to report. Lately I have had to ride the bike in the rain. I will say these tires perform much better in the rain. My PR2's would slip on the tar snakes. I hardly notice any slip with these Avons.

I ended up catching a nail in the rear with just 2152 miles on them mid-July. I haven't ridden since that day because I was up to my eyeballs dealing with my moms memorial service and just didn't have the bandwidth to pursue this problem.
Avon does have a road hazard warranty which factored into my decision to try them. Long story short, I have the free replacement tire all mounted up and balanced in my possession and I may just have the bike back together by the end of this coming weekend.
The warranty process is a real PAIN. The shop I bought the tires through is currently out their price for the tire and are looking for options to ship my old tire down to Southern California so Avon can evaluate whether or not my tire qualifies to their satisfaction and they asked me to pay for that. I'm OK with doing that because it will add up to a new tire ready to go on the bike for <$100.00. There's no real incentive for them to vigorously pursue a warranty claim on my behalf because all they get out of it is their price for mounting and balancing. After all the legwork they go through I suspect they lose money. So I'm happy so far with how cheap it has been for me but they had my wheel for like a month!
Regarding my experience so far with these tires, they showed no appreciable wear on the center portion but I did see signs of abuse nearer to the edges. I'd have to say I like them better than the PR4 I was running before and they were far cheaper than going with the Road 5 through Cycle Gear.

Have had the Spirit ST's on for about 1,000 miles and I love them so far. Great cornering and smooth on the straight road. Headed to Arkansas in November for the real test. If they pass the Push Mountain road torture test I will buy them again when these wear out..

Ok. This thread died 2 1/2 years ago. I would love to see some more updates. Especially on mileage. I'm down to my last set of Avon 3DXM tires and am looking at the Spirit's.

I got 6927 miles out of a pair of St's, good wet and dry grip. I moved on to Pirelli Angel GT (A)s, they are more expensive but give better mileage I get close to 10,000 out of the GTs
I got a pair in 2018 and only got about 7k miles out of them. The front had a weird wear issue and developed a bald spot (I could see threads) on the side. Back to PR4s

I was just looking for some Spirt St tires on quite a few different seller websites. They are all out of the front tire, but have the rear. I wonder if it has something to do with the last post from Mossyrocks 13k above? Anyone know what's going on with the Avon manufacturing of these tires?
