Here's a short video I compiled with assorted footage I filmed last summer.

Bending the rules when you ride an FJR1300 (or a gritty V-Max) comes almost natural

Speed limits and lane discipline are the victims here, but this is pretty commonplace in Europe (especially here in Italy) when you want to lose the cagers B)

Bad Boys Video

Disclaimer: it wasn't me, officer, wasn't even my bike... I found this video on the Net.

Looked like CFO to me.....except for the blue one following rather than leading........ ;)

Excellent Stef, simply excellent.

What was the one 3-sided tunnel all about? Never seen anything like that before..

Is the amount of traffic you encountered on that ride typical of riding in Europe?

I'm jonesing bad for a E-ride someday.

Guys,

Thanks for the compliments. All I really do is splice videos together ;)

Dcarver,

that weird 3-sided tunnel is often found on Alpine mountainsides where a simple roadway would be too vulnerable to landslides or avalanches.

Traffic on this video is a bit mixed. Mountain-road footage was shot in Switzerland in early August. Lots of slow thru traffic there.

Hill road scenes come from Italian back-roads (deserted except for weekends) and, finally, the V-Max material was shot around Milan -- and that's pretty hairy year-round :D

Yep, you sure can tell that was not the good ole USA, not one of those cagers tried to swerve into you as you overtook them :D

Nice video, starting to make me home sick you bastage.

Nice, Stef! Which software you using? Where was the camera mounted on the FJR? Tank bag?

By the way, put some man horns on the Feej...

Hey you guys ride pretty slow over there huh ?? :p

Nice Vid Steph, the three sided tunnel was unusual, sort of like Monaco Grand Prix !

TWN,

Camera was velcroed to the brake-fluid reservoir on the FJR, while on the V-Max it was stuck to the RH side of my helmet ;)

I work with Ulead Video 9. It's got pretty good features but it crashes my laptop every 5 mins :dribble:

...and yes, I need to put Blasters on the Feejer B) Got the parts, got FJRRandy's harness...I reckon I only need the time and a heavy-duty space heater in my garage. I swear I saw some penguins run out of it with their teeth chattering :bleh:

Highlander,

sort of like Monaco Grand Prix
Yep, the one right next to the Loews Hotel :boss: But I believe there's a 50 kmh speed limit in that tunnel on non-GP days :erm:

Really nice vid Stef. In the Canadian Rockies we call those type of open-sided tunnels "snow sheds" and their role is to flow the avalanches over the top leaving the road clear. Off to Switzerland and Provence for 2 weeks in May - can't wait, although I'm sure I'll be missing my FJR when I get on these cool mountain roads.

great shots! I have had the pleasure of driving in Italy from top to bottom. Unfortunately, only in cages. Cannot wait for the chance to do it properly on two wheels. I did notice there where no scooters trying to pass cages on the right side. Has driving in Italy improved? Ciao!

Has driving in Italy improved?
Does the Pope use condoms?

Sorry, bro. No way. It's still a free-for-all.

Scooters can't be seen in the video but they're out there in their thousands :****:

What pisses me off is coming up to a red light and standing in the front row but in the next 30 seconds having a half dozen scooters sneak up and form a barrier before me.

So when the signals turn green I have them all in front of me crawling off in a cloud of blue smoke.

If I had the bike equivalent of a Humvee I'd knock'em down like bowling pins.. There, I've said it :angry03:

Very fun. Reggae is just great riding/dancing/listening music! So, can Sherri and I come ride with you sometime??? It looks beautiful there!
