The boy's at Yamaha do lurk to see what we all have to say, so let them know that 1 color a year is lame!

The AE gets a an awesome color this year, seems they need something to push that model. More coices would be a great thing.

<_<

Saw the Black at the dealer meeting inFl, I am glad I have a Black Cherry left personaly!

What didn't you like?

Do you remember if the piece below the tank is black or silver?

About that trim piece below the tank, the one that is black on some pics and silver on others, on the yamaha website - Is that piece plastic or metal? Is it fairly easy to remove? I'm thinking about painting it black if it doesn't come that way.

thx

Hey all this might help:

Yamaha's UK site may help answer these questions..

https://www.yamaha-motor.co.uk/products/mot...;subview=colour

Looks the like one with the black tail section is called midnight black and the one with the silver tail section is called graphite...

Unsure how the colors actually differ BUT,

The one that has the Euro stripe kit is the midnight black...So I am guessing the USA one will be the graphite. If Yamaha stays true

past practices.

Awwww...don't be threatened by opinions "nut". You wouldn't want people to think that you're insecure or anything. I'll blow off the troll comment, but we should go riding some time as long as you don't gripe about the heat on your 05 the whole way.
I have had some experience with MCL. Not the products. It is my position that I will not support him. That's all. I have no reason to assume that his products are faulty or inferior in any way.

I'd prefer not to go into details (wont). It was just an expression of my position. I think the guy's a loser.

Dude, me threatened? Hardly. And if you actually do claim to have spent some time here, you should have known that I have never complained about heat on my '05 - fact is, I don't believe there is a heat problem. I'm also seeing a perspicuous trend in your posts. Quite telling, really. ;)

Now, answer my invite from the other thread or go Huck off, mmmmmkay?

I am assuming that you are not impressed with the new choice of color(s). Are you being objective or are you partial to black cherry, or do you dislike the color black on bikes in general? Just wondering.

The 08 looks cool, they all look cool, the 05 Galaxy Blue rules. Guess which one I have. Some dude showed me this new Harley. The color was black "Flat Black" the texture was like primer. I was thinking I could go to Wallmart buy some Krylone for $2.95 a can and do the same. What will Harley think of next.

A black FJR. Cool. Sprinkle it liberally with chrome (NOT silver, gimme a break, anyone knows you put chome with black, fer chrissakes). Then remove the mufflers altogether. Add a supercharger and ride the Total Hooligan FJR. Drool.

Okay, it's a childish, irresponsible dream, but it's mine, okay? So **** off if ya don't like it. In fact, that would make a great custom license plate for the ultimate hooligan FJR - FOIYDLI

:p

You wana see the 08 color just look at a 08 R1. It's just black but looks good to me. And when is the westcoast unveiling at Alice's? PM. <><

But the black has some maroon metal flake in it, that's why they call it Raven. Take a look at a R1 in the sun it looks really good.
That explains it. The R1 was under the Yamaha tent at Laguna. That is one sweet ride as well. Drool on.....PM. <>< :D

It's plastic and very easy to remove.

And most likely the side trim pieces will remain silver, since that has been standard since the introduction of this generation, and black has been an available color on other continents. IOW, when black models have be available in Europe and Australia they have been like every other color....only black.
...only black. And faster :yahoo:

My kids have already named my soon to be new aquisition Vader. I loved the color on my '06 and was a little dissappointed when I saw the '08 color revealed about a day after my insurance company told me the '06 was a total loss. The more I think about it though, the more I agree with Andre. The single best thing about the FJR is riding the FJR. When you hit hyperspeed, color just doesn't really matter.

The Black looks simplistic and unintersting to my eyes next to the AE which looks very rich in color with great contrast and of course black is HOT as hell in the upper 90's plus IMHO!

Seems Yamaha could add some variety like they offer on the rest of their models! Black Cherry is ok not my first choice, oh crap the truth is they have the ability to put out some awsome paint work on the rest of their bikes why not for the FJR being the flagship that it is!! Ok I Whinning!@!

Yes, David, but that particular bike has a dangerous habit (at least for those in North America) of riding in the "other" lane. But black does look....well..."hot", and I don't mean temperature-wise. My XS1100 is metallic black and I grew to love the color.

For those still arguing that a black bike is "hotter", I'd like to see some comparitive testing done with a measuring device. I'd wager it isn't all that much hotter (2 or 3 degrees) than Galaxy Blue while moving down the road. Even if it were hotter, it hasn't stopped those with "liter sport bikes" and old gen super-sports from enjoying their bikes.
