Mike, it's alright, all the black bikes ride on the same side of the road here (picture taken when I was out riding with myself and a few other myselfs while ago):

even though we are downunder:

In our summer we ride in temps of 95F+ and hunidity of 80%+ (sometimes up to 95%), and it's not the bike that is (heat) hot, it's the oven we ride in. At 80mph 95F is hot. That's why we hydrate plenty, and use evaporative vests. Without these two sensible riding options riding is not a real comfortable option. But I think that a high-gloss black bike with some subtle pearl through it is the best colour. Can't wait to see the new one for real.

Honzo-

I hear what you are saying and it is understandable to question Yamaha's capability to engineer a bike if they can't even get photos right. Unfortunately, it's all too commonplace for this type of thing and ...yes ... with that level of company with that amount of $$$$. While it sucks to not have a definitive understanding since the images are screwy, this is probably the marketing department's (or a vendor's) screw-up. Is there some way to send an email alerting them to the problem?

I suppose, but why not vent here? Forum was kind of quiet for a couple days anyway.

I just got back from the dealership and they had just received the inserts into their master book that has each of the new models, pictures, and specs. Of course, everything is subject to change, but, in that picture, it looks like the one in the heading of the forum. The piece that wraps around the bottom of the tank in front of the seat is silver and the rear section of bodywork is silver.

Essentially, take the picture below and make the black cherry pieces black and keep the silver parts silver.

thx

The bike at the dealer meeting was all black including the tank wrap.

What about what Tony, here saw? Contradiction is everywhere. It's a conspiracy. Keep us guessing and we won't really know what they are up to. The Empirium Clintonium advances yet another step...

Simple economics tell me that the tank wrap and rear bodywork sections will be silver. When looking at inventory stock, would be much less expensive to have/store 1 color to satisfy 2 model years than having '07 parts and '08 parts.

I'm strongly considering upgrading from my '04 and I would prefer the silver tank wrap and tail sections. We all know how hard black is to keep clean and how it brilliantly shows imperfections. As your pants are constantly in contact with this piece, I would imagine that it would be very prone to fine scratches that wouldn't be as evident in silver. Same with the rear sections.

All contradiction and speculation should be cleared up within the next couple of weeks when they start showing up on the showroom floors.

Hi Randy,

Were you able to see any pics of the dash? On the Yamaha site it shows the new dial face's and the housing is black instead of silver.

Need it be repeated: This is all conjecture and supposition until the "Grand Unveiling/Introduction". But a waiter's need to worry must be fulfilled. (Again, resisting the primal urge to offer waiter-baiting comments!) If Tony has actually physically seen a pre-production model I'd be inclined to go with his observation.

Is it time to visit the annual mechanical issue of the French detuned engines and the attendant fix: Removing the injector restrictor plates?

Patience, Grasshopper. Once the Yamaha trailers show up for the "unveiling" of the '08 models, there will be plenty of pictures from many angles.

Ain't it fun to be a waiter!?!?!?!?

Maybe Yamaha could do a model like HD did the Night Train model. Blacked out would be cool, especially in combat flat. PM. <>< :D

I'm 30 min from the York PA plant and a couple of the engineers live in my neighborhood. They told me the Night Train was the brainchild of a guy that was figuring out what to do with all of the chrome parts that got blemished in the chroming/polishing process. With the blem items, they toss them into the 'night train' pile.
