I have several of the IBA Insanity certs but want to add at least another to my experiences, therefore;

I am planning to do the B to B on or about 13-15 April 2007. It will run from perhaps Calexico Mexico to SweetGrass Montana with it being a mostly slab run on I 15 thru Las Vegas. Salt Lake to Canadian Border. If you also want to get credit for a BBG 1500 Insanity(must have completed at least an IBA certified Saddle Sore 1k) then you can get both the BBG and BB Insanity. There will be no following support vehicles for this ride. It will be a rain or shine, warm or cold or whatever event. PM me if you are interested in giving me some company. Thanks in advance :yahoo:

Got room for another? :dribble: Se habla Español?

Bah! Since I've yet to send in my paperwork from Ian's SSK and my subsequent BB, I'm out on this one (unless someone has some pull with Kneebone & Co. Wink, wink.)

Sniff.

too close to SFO Spring Thing for me to attend. sorry.

You guys are going to get snowed on. But sounds like it would be a real hoot!
Steve, assume you live in Wyoming. Got any info on temp and snow conditions on the average for Montana, Utah in mid April. I certainly will do some weather research but thought I would ask a real live person. Appreciate any info. thanks in advance. :D

Good point.

The three years I lived in Wyoming, the last MAJOR snow storm always came in May. Of course it could have been 60 degrees the week before, but the last biggy always came in May. You never know about that mountain weather. Hit a snowstorm in June on I-70 once somewhere in Colorado.

You'll be good to go even if your previous ride paperwork falls through.
I think he's talking about the insanity part (1500+ in 24hrs)
Yes and Arty-farty is correct. Write that down, it don't happen very often.

IBA just wants you to know what you are getting yourself in for on an insanity ride. Even if gerbil-boy's screws up his paperwork and doesn't get his initial rides approved (you gotta be a moron to do that), the fact that he did the ride and now has a pretty good idea what he would be getting himself in for on the B2B ride would be good enough.

Yo 'Nut - get the danged paperwork in, eh? Your gonna be RallyMaster for the next WFO and you can't even turn in a simple IBA ride submission? Oh boy, we be in trouble.

And as for you skiwi, have you turned in your paperwork for a little ride we did last July in the Nevada desert? I didn't think so, ya wanker.

Dave,

It is very possible to have significant snowfalls that time of year, spring storms are fairly common, especially in the high country. Higher mountain areas will definitely still have significant accumulated snow at that time of year. And the threat of cold, and/or snowy weather will be a factor anywhere north of Arizona/New Mexico.

It is possible that at that time of year, the weather window could be fine for the trip. But it is more likely that at some point you are going to experience cold and/or snow. The threat drops significantly by mid-May. It is still winter in the mountains in mid-April.

I'm in Denver, so if you route this direction, you can always lay up here if a front is blowing through up north. My mother is in Sheridan in northern Wyoming (where I was born and raised) and she has a big garage and lots of room.

Just have to watch the weather windows that time of year. Let me know if you need more info.

Steve

Thanks much Steve. Very informative and the offer of a holdup place is much appreciated.

Sky is correcto mundo!! to get BBG credit, IBA rules say must have completed a certified SS1K. I also concur, B2B can probably be certified without a certified SS1k. TWN, PM Mike KB for an answer- is a suggestion.

Ian,

With You, Hal, SkooterG, perhaps BlueStreek(Are you interested?) in, I feel that we will have to moderate our average 24 hour AVERAGE mph down to a SANE 65-70 mph or so!! You guys have a REPUTATION & established a benchmark that this VINTAGE rider would never be able to reach, PROBABLY!!<LOL> :clapping: :exclamation:

Eh, paperwork or not, I might just do it for my own personal satisfaction. Just checked my passport and it's good through next August - I have no excuse outside of a heavy work load...

Scheming mode on...
