Who can make it?

Miraculously, the stars align and Pillion has the day off and my schedule is open on that day so we iz in. The 99.9 inaccurate long range weather report indicates 92, humid and sunny until late afternoon boomers.

Pending weather (my long range forecast is not as good as Alan's)I will be there. I have the day off and I should finish installing my new shock this afternoon.

I won't litter every breakfast ride thread, but just letting you guys know that I most likely won't be able to make any rides until September due to work/other time commitments.... but that's ok, it'll give me time to plan for some nice fall rides for breakfast! I will keep my eyes peeled though in the NE section to see if by some chance there are some that I can make.

Fred, where bouts you lookin to ride in western Mass?

Helen commented that she would like to put the Ashburnham Country Store back on the menu again sometime. And then quips, "If we go in and order on Friday, the meals should be ready for breakfast on Sunday." ;) (Closed for Shabbat.)

OK, well, it sounds like there is enough interest for this. Let's pen it into the calendar.

@ionbeam -I had toyed with Ashburnhams, especially on a weekday morning  , but they do take so damn long to make a simple plate of Irish Eggs Benedict...

Being that I expect the temps and chances of thunderstorms to climb later in the day, I'd like for us not to waste too much time dallying at breakfast.

Not that Parkers is speedy, but at least we can get out of there in less than an hour. :p

Western MA route is not fully formed yet. Kind of depends if folks will have the whole rest of the day to come out and play. Josie and I are planning on it, so if others are interested I'll whip something interesting together for a route. Suggestions are welcome.

For those who will have the full day to play on Friday, and in full accordance with the NERDS guiding principles of "Ride2Eat" , I've whipped us up a fun looking route of NW Mass with a longer (6 hour) and a shorter (4.5 hour) ride-time options. This will cover a few roads that I know are great, and a bunch more that I've never been on before, but look great in GoogleMaps satellite photo and street views.

Both routes start at Parkers Maple Barn in Mason, NH after breakfast, and both will end at The Old Mill Restaurant on Rte 2A in Westminster, MA.

Depending on what time we get there, Joann and I may stop in and have a little late lunch early (light) dinner (the complimentary pecan rolls and are to die for!!) after the ride. Or if it's too late we may just roll on towards home from there.

Fred,

Not sure how you could work it into your planning, but 8A from Charlemont to Heath is a gem not to be missed, but would be hard to figure in the western end of Rt 2 including the hairpin if you did it.... There, I know that helped!

Thanks. Not planning on going that far west on Rte 2 (to the hairpin). Been there, done Rte 2 a bunch of times.

In fact, I'm planning on staying off of Rte 2 for the most part and running the really back roads. Not dirt, mind you, but probably the next thing to it. :p

If you look at my route map you'll see what I am planning on riding is from Warwick thru Royalston to Northfield, then Bernardstown, through Colrain to Monroe Bridge, and then down River road along the Deerfield river. Then south on 8A from Charlemont to Plainfield. I guess I could include the northern part of 8A instead, but I have done that section before and wanted to explore the River Rd.

The weather forecast for Friday in RI is for highs in the mid to upper 90's. If I may suggest, I would like to see the meetup time moved up to 7:30-8:00 to allow more riding time before the afternoon.

George

Damn fine idea guys. Let's move the time up to 8AM. (edited the threat title and first post) That's when they open on weekdays.

You can get there earlier if you like and split some wood or something to work up an appetite. :p

WoW I see 97 in the forecast for a High...

I will be in a pair of 80's shorts and flip flops :p
Wear your mesh pants and go commando!

Just be sure to sit at the other end of the table from me... :p

PS - George, There will be almost 100 degree difference between this ride and the ride we took in this area last fall, eh? B)

You are correct sir...no heated grips needed.

Wow, not sure how I missed THAT one... I clearly wasn't looking at the map close enough. New take on a Jeff Foxworthy line.... "If you're too tired to read a map, you might be nurse."

Mandatory overtime is becoming a huge issue in healtchare. My place of employment has killed us with it.... I'm contemplating making T-shirts for the staff here that read "Mandatory overtime is NOT a staffing pattern". Thread hijack! (again)

Since I appear to be hijacking threads, I may as well contribute in a positive manner....

Two awesome roads in western Mass are East River Rd in Chesterfield (my favorite for its reminiscence of West Virginia) and the Skyline Trail is scenic and enjoyable at a cruiser pace.

Whoa. This post got messed up.

Anyway, I have made another route to hit the roads suggested by CJ. It's only a little bit longer than the others. Same GPS file links.
