I have kept a close eye on the frame and forks and wheels. I have had the bike over 140 with no problems. I guess I have had my bike farther down to the bones so to speak than most. I would be happy to share any thing I have learned so far with anyone who needs help. I'm have made comments in the forum on a variety of subjects such as handling and oil issues. I have never logged the hours it took to get her back on the road. She is still a work in progress. So far parts from 31 different fjr's have gone into her. It took me 9 months to get her running again. My next step after I get the last remaining plastic inner fairing parts will be a total tear down (motor out of frame so I can finish cleaning up the motor, frame and drive line. I promise I will take more pictures this time and keep track of my time. Thanks for the support.Absolutely astounding! Your satisfaction must be immense. 2 Huge accomplishments here, one is the obvious technical achievement two is the tenacity and determination to complete such a task. A couple of questions spring to mind though:
1. Is there any way of checking that the heat didn't weaken the frame/forks/wheels?
2. Now that you have done this you know the FJR inside out, is there anyway you can make use of this knowledge....set up an FJR workshop?
3. Do you have the bug now....will you look for another?
D. I might have missed it, did you say how long this took, in man hours or months?
Amazing that the tank didn't blow!!
(I must be in a counting mood today.....I struggle after 3)
