I stayed recently at Flying Flags RV Park last month in Buellton California. It cost me $22 for one night, but their tent sites are secluded away from the RV's, has a super clean restroom and great showers. I was near the camp store, but hidden away at the same time. They had a huge pool that was nice after a 500 mile ride and they sold beer! What more could one want?
I've gotten a tent site at Flying Flags several times. Thumbs up. It ain't the wildnerness, but I've paid more for worse spots.

Sorry, but if you're sleeping in a cabin--or a Kabin--you're not camping. And if you're laying there in your tent listening to generators, or hearing people four or five "campsites" away talking and laughing when you're trying to sleep, you'd be better off in a motel. And if you're paying $15 or $20 for a place to pitch your tent, you're wasting $15 or $20, IMHO. The OP asked about campsites for a solo rider, and all that requires is about 15 square feet of flat ground. If you have a bottle of water you can brush your teeth in the morning, and if you're a male you're all set for a bathroom. There are products like this if you're out a couple nights in a row. If you use the national forests or any other kind of "stealth camping," you can ride till it's time to stop and not have to worry about where the next campground is. It's kind of an adventure.

I'm on the other side of town to the campground so give a shout if you come through.

I'm not a big fan of KOA, I use them as a last resort. Except for the one just South of Badlands NP. Look up each state you'll be going through for their state parks.
