Apparently several of you know each other quite well, and thats what always makes going on these trips so much fun.

I dont see anybody else from Texas showing up, so I'm in for this CFR. Already booked room and good to go!

A couple of questions

1. How do you pronounce "Nakusp"?

2. Still working on this, but the ride links? DH?? Looking at a map trying to figure out the route and not with any success I dont think.

Riding to Las Vegas NM, then going north, trying to stay on western side of Continental Divide (No slabs). Then once in BC I got 4 days to ride and see all the best twisties I can find. I figure yall got some good stuff there. Then its back home, staying on the eastern side of the divide. Thats about my whole plan, 12 days in all, cant wait!

GREAT!! I'll see you there Scott... :yahoo:

+1...haven't figured out the routes yet either as I don't have a DH guide. But maybe they will put up a google map of the routes sometime before CFR.

Hey Scott, looking forward seeing and possibly riding with you up in BC...or maybe we can hook up part of the way going back... south.

It's amazing what a couple of years (or 5) of attending these events will do to broaden your "friend base".

Remember: You meet the nicest people on an FJR. You really do!

I thought Ray had used up all the good will for Texans?!?!?!

I heard you and the Exskibum are getting the honeymoon suite. LOL

IIRC you two were pretty tight in Fortuna. The management was so impressed with the both of you they left flowers at your door. :p

I learned all this from Highlander :D
Hey I'd forgotton all about that ! They were such a cute couple that the front desk sent them a present.......

I forgot about the signs that were on their bikes :lol2: :lol2:
Except the handwriting looks suspiciously like Highlander's. Are you two jealous...or afraid to "come out"...or insecure in your manhood?

Isn't misdirection a ploy of those who occupy closets?

i am sure we can find a flag to fly..
Good idea. I'll bring my "Pole".
Careful, Toe. Highlander and Bluestreek will undoubtedly get drunk one night and attach a rainbow flag to your pole. Mike and I spotted them from a second floor window in Fortuna this last October: drunk, giggling and even rolling around together out behind the bikes. Only in this thread did I finally discover that they had posted their "No on 8" signs on our bikes. I'm sure they'll be similarly "prepared" with rainbow flags to fly as the group rolls north.

I'm thinking our cute couple should pass the flowers onto some other CFR roomies and start a tradition of the cutest roomie award !! Every rally someone gets a surprise from the previous award recipient !! :D You'll never know till you open the door in the morning ! Spread the love ! :p

Has anyone advised the hotel that perhaps the 'on-site' liquor store might wish to stock up on Alberta Premium?
I haven't been blessed with Alberta Premium in over 15 years. Totally forgot about it...Thanks Barb. Count me in to help with the *stock*. :D

What?!? People drink liquor at these events..?? And here I thought we were strictly a barley-n-hops crowd..! (Oh, and make mine a double por favor!) ;)

Well, apparently you two KEPT the flower arrangement for yourselves. I never saw it or knew anything about it until it was posted in this thread. Same with the "No on 8" signs. I saw flashes of light coming from behind our bikes and you two cavorting drunkenly with one another and a camera. I even yelled out the window, worried that whatever was going on, either barf or something worse might end up on my bike. :bad:

Seemed like kinda suspicious behavior to me. Maybe it'd be easier if you two finally just came out of the closet? ;) :p

I would like to thank the planners of this rally for all the hard work they have done, and for allowing us "furriners" to participate.

The only problem I have is, I've already worn out my atlas trying to plan out routes to, during, and after.

"Let's see: up through Glacier and then across....? No, wait! Up through WA., across the North Cascades Highway! Yeah, then to Nakusp

up 97, or 395?

After CFR, Banff, Jasper, Lake Louise... then through Glacier? Down to Yellowstone?.......AAAAGGGHHHH! "

I may have to quit my job and just ride.

Sounds good, no Arkansas trick riding though!

Ok Petey! Got any big plans when heading south? I'm hoping to do a ride through GNP, Yellowstone, The Tetons or whatever!

I don't want to start a new thread about this, since the CFR folks will all be reading this one, but if it gets moved it gets moved. I noticed a thread that started a few months ago but didn't last too long about continuing the adventure in a "Northerly" direction. Now that the planning is getting more concrete, maybe there'll be more thinking along these lines. I'm thinking about stretching it out all I can too, and Alaska sounds awful tempting. Maybe even once up in Nakusp we can form some ad hoc ride groups and see who gets farthest. Why not?
Mike: maybe have a look at the "Alaska after CFR" thread started by BugR and conveniently located in the CFR part of the Forum. Yer welcome!
OK, I went back and gave BugR's thread (linked above) a bump, and sure enough, that was the kick-start it needed--looks like there are a lot of post-CFR riding plans in the works already, and many groups forming up. We should all be able to find folks heading our way with compatible riding styles and goals. How about anybody planning to continue north (anywhere north) after CFR check out that thread and post up so we can plan early or talk during the rally.

". . .start a tradition of the cutest roomie award !!"
If we could just make that award retroactive, I win for NAFO. I had the cutest roomie. (Old MMMMMmmmichael!)
