For the inmates staying in Spokane here is a route suggestion to Nakusp. This route follows the east side of the Columbia River - caution watch out for forest rats. The south end of this route features some nice twisties near Wellpinit. US 395 north of Spokane is boring farmland.

Jim - I've perused your route suggestion, and it meets my approval. Of course, it you told me to "take the back 40 over to the landfill, take a left, jump the 3rd cattle guard in 2nd gear hard on the throttle, cut a hard fart on the 4th right hand curve, and then point the bike north until you see the moose", I'd do that with no questions asked.

However, I have an alternate thought.

Seeing as though we will be with you in Spokane on the morning in question, upon your command for "kickstands up", but not before the lovely and talented Ms. Linda says she is ready, Josh is planning to position himself about 2 seconds behind your rear wheel. And then I'm going to position myself about 2 seconds behind Josh. Of course, as with any Pants adventure, there always exist the possibility that by then, we would have picked up someone else along the way. In that case, we'll just wing it past my rear wheel.

We'll hold to that pattern until we get to CFR. M'kay??

Good plan. That way you bypass Slocan Park so I won't have to wait around to wave.

That looks like a good one. That ferry ride is fun and the run from Kaslo to New Denver is great as long as the wooden bridges are dry.

Well packing started six days ago. I hope it takes less than six days to unpack and less than six days to repack. If packing efficiency is not improved the trip is eight months long. It will be snowing on Jasper, Going to the Sun Hwy will be closed, bears will be hibernating, the high for the day will be 6 degrees at Redfish Lake (where there are no Redfish), all the Northerners on the forum will be whining about winter while Pants and Cav47 will be holed somewhere between Jasper and Spearfish due to a blizzard. And your awesome ride report will be tardy.

My pulse is starting to quicken..yesterday I briefly considered bringing the bag liners upstairs in preparation for packing but decided against it - the effort was simply too daunting. The first two days are slab across the prairies...I’ll need Led Zeppelin for tunes for that stretch...Day 3 from Lethbridge to Nakusp will be the motorcycling equivalent of overdosing on viagra, headphones out, earplugs in.
