Good luck with you guys on Beartooth pass. I hope the weather and road conditions are in your favour.

Weather here on this side of the island today was very nice.... Went out whale watching tonight... that was cool!

Waxing philosophical for a moment, it was only about six years ago that some of us met for the first time in Santa Rosa for WFO2. The gathering was loosely organized on Jooshead's old FJR Owners' site and, to a lesser extent, on the old EZBoard site. There was no FJRForum. Fifteen bikes had shown up at WF01 and roughly thirty bikes showed up for WF02 where almost everyone's jaw was on the ground because most of us had never seen another FJR - ever, anywhere - other than the one we owned. I can still recall the Canadian contingent riding into the motel parking lot with a large Maple Leaf flag flying. Then they all took off south to California Sport Touring and cleaned out the place. If I remember correctly we just kind of wandered across the street when it was time for dinner. At the "banquet", in a surprise move, a local motorcycle shop picked up everyone's tab.

All lot has happened since then - lots of miles, lots of meet-ups, lots of gear-head conversations, lots of great times. . .. and some not so great. A true community has coalesced, which is remarkable considering that we are, to a significant extent, a community of lone wolves and, let's face it, an affinity group based on commonly-owned machinery. But it works....and almost none of this would have happened without the internet. Just amazing.

What is also amazing, but not at all surprising, is how many of the people from those first meetings are now converging on Nakusp. It is really a kick to see everyone forming up and heading out from the east and west, on both sides of the border.

'Nuff said.

MCML: Joseph, very nice narrative of the early days of our mighty FJR Forum. My 1st FJR Forum event was SW-FOG in 2005, hosted by Doc Reid over in New Mexico. Have enjoyed the camaraderie of these fine FJR Forum Folks ever since!

Well, My Friend: I will see You, Fairlaner, Roy, Bill and Steve at the Comfort Inn in Spokane, WA on Wednesday night, 6/17.

As soon as I hit Add Reply, Seth and I are out the door heading to Cool Canada. Already 82 degrees Fahrenheit here in AZ!

Still sitting at home, preparing to endure a week of non-CFR before leaving Friday... :(

Hang in there man, even tho we don't have long commutes, we'll still have fun!

You could come down with something Wednesday and be there earlier? Just a thought...

Skippin' skool for CFR would be a worthy cause ;)

Did Rainer yesterday and heading North to Osoyoose border at a gentle pace; dont want to get there too early :p

ARGGGGHHHH!!!!! EVERYONE ELSE IS RIDING AND I'M WORKING!!!!!!!!!!!!! :dribble:

Ok, that's out of my system. Spooned a new PR2 onto the front, scrubbed it in yesterday, and ready to leave Calgary with "she-who-must-be-obeyed" on the 17th... see you all there! :yahoo:

Griff (not the one riding west with Wheaton, the Canuckistani one ... <_< )

I'm on the back deck in the sun, drinkin................coffee, waiting on Huron&TheMissus

I'll pack....hmmm, Wednesday morning, about 20 minutes before we leave

I'm at work. It's 6PM the Sunday night before I'm scheduled to leave and I'm at work. Dinner is waiting for me... nothing is packed and I'm at work.

There is something seriously wrong with me.

Left early AM Saturday got to Glendive MT the first day. Who sez North Dakota is a boring ride??

There was the Castleton Can Castle...

After Glendive I left the InterSlab and go back on the real roads, Big Sky Country they call it.

Tomorrow Glacier!

I'm leaving Vancouver early Thursday morning and slabbing it all the way to Kelowna. The last stretch will be Hwy. 6 going east from Vernon. I think that's one of the suggested CFR rides, supposed to be a great road. Four sleeps to go and counting down!

We are at Brookings, OR. Looking for a place to eat dinner. Deb took some pictures and will post later.

Petey and I are in Wall, SD and will have to stop in Sturgis tomorrow to get some tires on my bike. We have that moron Jesse James on the TV watching hime do the ice ride. What a nerd.

Big SIGH!! I'm so jealous of all you on the road! Just 2 more days of work, and then I'm leaving Wednesday morning.

Looking forward to meeting you all in Nakusp!

To all CFR riders: Have a great time and be safe! Beware that Beemerdons is attending and he will be forcefully recuiting attendees for SWFOG 2009 in Page, AZ Sept 24th-27th. He is not a man to be taken lightly and can be a bit unstable if you say no to him!!! :dribble:

Hope to see you in Page!

Yes a very nice narrative indeed Joseph. I recognized Highlander and Diane, MM2's younger brother  and Ed and Jacquie in the first pics.

My 1st FJR event was WFO-3 at Moscow where I met a lot of you 'mericans that are coming to CFR. You'll enjoy the roads at CFR but it's the people you meet that make Memories. I am so looking forward to seeing you all again.

Cheers

Kasey
