Remember too that money supply (i.e. financing) is tight too. The interest rates might be down, but the qualifying is a different story. Too bad I've got my money tied up in my garage/workshop/mancave project or I'd drop my '03 like a cheap ho' for that 2009 in Lakland.

It could be some thing to do with the recession.
Maybe they are trying to stay in business by getting some cash flowing.
Different brands but I looked at '09 Busa's and '09 ZX14's both in the mid $9k's out the door and was offered $9k trade in on my FJR. Did find out Suzuki for one has cut back production by 40%. Dealer I was at ordered 14 Busas.......they were allotted 3 for the year.

I use the Lakeland store for service, parts, etc. I really like the quality of the service they provide.

Anytime I have wondered through the showroom their salesman are friendly, informative and not overbearing I'll try to slide by on Thursday and see if I can throw any light on the subject

Okay guys...Sky Powersports (A) is about 2 minutes from my office.

For a small fee, I'll GLADLY arrange purchases for your new rides.

Or send me the money and I'll deliver them for ya, if you pay airflight back home.

I spoke with the salesman about to low prices and he said the were given incentives from the factory that they were passing them onto customers to help spur sells. I think he said this was only for January.

RadioHowe - that is were my new bike is at, but it can't be shipped until ignition switch recall is done.

I don't believe I will take that offer of delivery though, I would rather break it in myself ;)

Bastard. :(

I've dealt with Riva in Pompano Beach FL. since I bought my New V-Max in 2001. Generally they will take about $1000.00 off the suggested retail. I was told when looking for my FJR that a 2009 would cost me about $13,200 plus tax and tag. I believe I made the right decision buying a 2007 1300A with 1,400 mi on it for $9,700. Wouldn't you agree?

I think so too... and that was from the dealer... Gotta tell ya, there is nothing like riding out with a fresh bike with 0 miles on it, but in the end I couldn't justify paying several thousands more for virtually the same bike.... and I just love the black cherry color over the black.

"Only Floriwaa would have a Lake Wire."

Yea that Lake name doesn't add up either.

Maybe the vegetation in the lake looks like wire.

Yes, they are cheap here right now. They probably should be when most of the dealers still seem to have new 07's sitting in the showrooms. These have all been AE models that I have seen. However, it was still cheaper for me to buy a very lightly used AE off of Ebay last week. The fact is, you can get a great deal on alot of AE's right now. So that convinced me. Now I just have to wait 2 weeks for it to get here <_<

The lake got its name from the telegraph "wire" that ran along its shore line.

It was the first telegraph line built in the State, connecting Fort Myers with Jacksonville and working its way down to Havana.

We have a tendency to name landmarks after simple things, gangsters and drugs.

Ya got to love it!

In reality, I remember the lake name from visiting my Grandfather who lived in Lakeland. We fished there once but I never caught anything. He told me the tale of the telegraph.

Your comment got me to thinking so, Clicky go to page 7 (History)

I guess the old drunk was not bull shitting his grandson after all. :alcoholic:

What really amazes me is that it took Rad's post to get me to look closely at your map. It clicked after that. Just something I haven't though of in more than 50 years.

That's the great story for me.
