As a fellow chicagoan I enjoyed reading your report and commiserating with you. Reminds me of leaving the city and heading south. I've had similar happen to me thankfully without the crash, the ticket, and bad tire. However its great to meet alot of nice people along the way, and at least have solutions to get out of each problem, even if each costs you $300 (or so it seems). Lets go riding when you get the new bike! Also let me know how it goes with progressive as I have them, and like $9000 of accessories and gear on the bike lol.

Reading your report was a hoot when I saw the pig picture, but holy jeez, the rest...At least you landed on your feet and ended up with a bike with a newer suspension and younger too. Progressive was great in my accident and will be for you I bet.

Did you know you can up the accessory coverage? I didn't, so mine will only cover $3K. Call your insurance guy, it'll add a little to the premium but you'll get your farkles covered dollar for dollar. Oh yeah, you don't have rental car coverage. Progressive doesn't sell it with motorcycle insurance.

Be sure to keep ALL your receipts too!

Oh yeah, you don't have rental car coverage. Progressive doesn't sell it with motorcycle insurance.

Olympia Airglide jacket and pants, Joe Rocket Sonic boots, Icon Perimeter Domain Helmet, Icon Merc Short Gloves.

Not Bad at all really. Insurance is paying for paying for them.

I want to say having AAA was very helpful. I have their Premium service and I was checking over the coverage last night and discovered besides the 200 mile towing service they have "Travel Interruption" coverage if you more than 100 miles from home. It reimburses you up to $1500 expenses getting home. Hotels, meals, car rental, transportation home or to your destination. So, I'll get reimbursed for two hotel nights, the shuttle to the airport, the car rental, and meals. :yahoo:

But, had I known that I would have stayed at the Ritz and had a few more milkshakes. :angry2:

Although it is clearly a major bummer you had to test it, I do appreciate your showing us how your Olympia Airglide gear fared. That is the same stuff that my wife and I wear in the summer months. I've always felt like maybe I was taking too big a risk with the mesh, trade off being comfort, but your pictures show some gear that did its job. If it was a 'stich maybe it would have still been wearable, but who cares? You'll get new gear from the insurance and you didn't sweat you gonads off when you were riding with it on.

However... I have to wonder about how fortunate it was to not get ticks on your unit.

I mean, wouldn't you have been able to save a lot on those ribbed condoms if you just had a few of those friendly fellows buried in?

Things are definitely on the upswing. I heard from the Insurance company, I'm getting a good amount of $ from both the bike and accessory claim and I already have a new/used bike. It's just a matter of getting my ass there to pick it up!

Too bad Marty but thanks for sharing your trip! Considering so many are left to ponder these things while in a hospital, let us be thankful you can do so from home while looking forward to a new bike already. You should have crashed in the corners before getting to the cops though!

Enjoy the new bike, always looked clean the few times I saw it. HID projectors.
