Kindly provide documentation of helmet induced deaths for both sled and MC operators vs. non and the leading cause of sled deaths. (I would guess that a good chunk of those sled deaths involved alcohol.) I'd be curious to see the results.I ride sled in upper MI too, and I've noticed the same deal. Maybe that's why folks who don't live in the snowbelt are so infatuated with the supposed power of the helmet - they don't get to witness the annual winter carnage of all the helmeted sled riders. Maybe it's better for them that way. They can ride around convinced that they're protected, unaware of the somewhat gruesome reality. My other rant on this same topic is the sport of snowmobiling where helmet use is virtually 100% just due to the cold. Yet, people constantly kill themselves on sleds. There have been as many as 40 fatalities a winter in Michigan alone. Helmet use seems to have no effect on fatalities.
Go on, make me a believer.
