My other rant on this same topic is the sport of snowmobiling where helmet use is virtually 100% just due to the cold. Yet, people constantly kill themselves on sleds. There have been as many as 40 fatalities a winter in Michigan alone. Helmet use seems to have no effect on fatalities.
I ride sled in upper MI too, and I've noticed the same deal. Maybe that's why folks who don't live in the snowbelt are so infatuated with the supposed power of the helmet - they don't get to witness the annual winter carnage of all the helmeted sled riders. Maybe it's better for them that way. They can ride around convinced that they're protected, unaware of the somewhat gruesome reality.
Kindly provide documentation of helmet induced deaths for both sled and MC operators vs. non and the leading cause of sled deaths. (I would guess that a good chunk of those sled deaths involved alcohol.) I'd be curious to see the results.

Go on, make me a believer.

Apart for the Organ Donor Title and the "leave them on the side of the road" comments I recon he is bang on...Fools like that do cost you and me **** loads of medical capital spent on these ******s who think only about them selves.

Fine ride without a helmet you selfish **** (Sic) whether your fault or not you will increase the medical cost in repairing you (if they can) without a helmet exponentially, and thems the facts....not to mention you have the potential to leave behind you family or friends or have them care for you for the rest of your vegetative life...Yeah but don't let that bother you your right to wear or not wear a helmet is far more important!

Yes it ******* annoys the **** out of me.

Cheers

ahh that feels better...

If you are offended, maybe you shouldnt say stuff like this "Fine ride without a helmet you selfish **** ...", cause that offends me. Get your house in order before you try to clean someone elses house.

Just for the record...If I'm selfish for riding without a helmet, then tough ****..I'm 47 years old, have been working all my life, have never "abused" the system, and pay more taxes per year than half the citizens pay in 10...I have managed to survive flying ultralights for 25+ years, motorcycles for 32+ years , and thats riding practically EVERY day of the year, not just a weekend warrior, flying airplanes for 15+ years, scuba diving for 20+ years, and skydiving for 8+ years....so dont ******* tell me how to ride, and that I'm selfish for enjoying some riding the way its SUPPOSED to be..which is freedom. Stay on your couch where its safe and no risk, eat more, and sure as ****, I'll be paying like I am now for self induced high blood pressure, diabetes, bad cholesterol, heart problems, etc.

dont come to a gunfight with a knife, newbie!

p.s. I dont know if I would call someone a "sycophants" (whatever that is  ) with a screen name of THUG...you in a gang, or what???

 I learns summfin' new every day here!! :dribble:

<snip>.... I dont know if I would call someone a "sycophants" (whatever that is)
A "sycophant" is someone who habitually uses flattery to gain personal advantage. I don't see too much of that (flattery) here. I do happen to know a sycophant, tho -- and he's sometimes difficult to be around because of that (but always nice). As to the "Davis" article: the motoring press is littered with dilettantes puffed-up with self importance -- and a rare few "good guys". One thing that's good to remember, I find, is that they're part of the *Entertainment Industry*; and, therefor -- "consider the source".

As to things to argue about: how about the insurance scam being perpetrated on most of us. I say "most of us" because, if you make enough claims you may break even or, in rare cases, even come out ahead. The rest-of-us pay through the nose for-ever and get nothing. And...it's mandatory! Insurance agents/adjusters will tell you (if pressed) that the same names come-up over and over again -- the rest of us are paying their way. I guess? until America teaches its society to be responsible for themselves and not be "on-the-take" from the rest we'll continue to need to support those irresponsible "freedom lovers"? Remember, the flip-side of freedom is responsibility.....

Well, I am not choosing sides, but why is it okay to throw rocks at helmetless riders but not at over-weight people? This is political correctness gone awry. If we are going to open the can of "stupid **** that may cost us money", we will ALL get hit with a rock or two. (or a whole mountain in my case)

With that being said, there is an easy solution to all of those that choose not to be affected financially by other persons stupidity.

Denounce your citizenship, quit your job, seek emplyment in Mexico and work there at least six months per year. You now have escaped income taxes. Live under the bridge in a box so you don't pay those unfair property taxes, either. Then, don't play that whole insurance scam. Self insure. That way, your premiums will never be affected by someone else's actions.

There, all fixed. :dribble:

It's not the picture so much as the thought behind it that I'm fond of....

Yeah, that's my picture. Of course, that was when I was an athelete. I've kinda let myself go since then. (I gotta little bit of a spare tire.) I still have those Converse's, though.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Say it ain't so!
No worries. Broken clock theory and all that. :D

I'm usually right at least once a year. Going for a personal record of three this year. Two to go, woot! :****:

By the way, Thug's a hunk! And, if I gotta walk through Compton at night, I'd sure as hell would want the Thugster on my side...
