dont know, you probably know the area better than I, any good place to meet? I was thinking destination daytona since plenty of stuff to see, but hard to find each other because of the crowd.
I've been to DD once already. The thing to do is either pay the $5 to park in the Love's gas station parking lot, or tell the parking attendants you're going to Houligans to eat and park in there. Actually, Love's would be 2nd in the line up as the turn off for Houligan's is adjacent/just before Love's. A 3rd choice is to go in at the light like you'd have to to go to Love's, but then go on back to where they'll direct you to the nosebleed section, but then say you are getting work done at JC's or Kuryakin and go into the vendor area and park there. They weren't enforcing all that when I was in, but that doesn't mean they won't when it gets really busy.

I really only go to DD if I get there early, like by 10am. Park in Houligan's or Love's like I said above, then get out within a reasonable time. If you guys want to meet up, I'd suggest picking a place like the bar @ Houligan's, or maybe the Chevrolet display in the first row of vendors behind Houligan's and hope everyone is prompt! Maybe tie on some sort of gay bandanna to ID each other - as if no pirate gear isn't ID enough!

The track (aka Daytona International Speedway) isn't all that bad to get in to. The set up is different this yr with everything being up front. This is a result of the new "Daytona Rising" construction project which is now complete or nearly so. There is a place to turn in just after the Cracker Barrel restaurant, but you can also go down and turn in by the tunnel entrance to the infield, then turn back to your right and go through the Speedway museum parking lot (where Dale Earnhardt statue is) and work your way back. It may even be easier that way depending on traffic on Speedway and bike/pedestrian traffic at the track. The Yamaha tent is nearer to the museum than Cracker Barrel (farther east). Many of the normal entrances are blocked off or only for the demo bikes.

Have fun and don't get any coleslaw or wrestling oil in your ear! PM if you want and I'll shoot you my cell #. I do day trips, so leave early and home by 4 or so. I don't like being up there after dark. I live about an hour south of Main St or DD. For Main St I have to go up US1; DD is all highway, but farther away, so time is about the same. If anyone needs anything, let me know. I have a really messy but fairly well equipped shop at my house.

I also have an old tired truck with a ramp and tie downs if needed. I already rescued some dirt dog biker on a well thrased '87 HD that was broke down on US 1 by where I live. My wife spotted him on her way home from work, so I went out to see if I could help, and ended up taking him & bike to Cabbage Patch where he was camping with his friends. His friends wouldn't come because they were all hammered up pretty good. It was an interesting ride to say the least. I don't like to see anyone stranded if there's some way I can help regardless of what they ride.

Hey flgab, real good advise all the way around. I like the idea of the speedway, I like looking at all the vendors and things. Easier to get around and find each other. I'll shoot you a pm.

Destination Daytona has been pretty jammed up mid day, if you are trying to ride in we have some parking between Memphis Shades and Klockwerks inside the J&P compound, tell them you're coming in for a windshield at either place

Yes, that is the best advice. It's still a be-otch getting back there when it's crowded, but better than getting stuffed way back by Wyotech.

I was over by J&P on Friday; are you by the tire booths? I talked to many of those guys for dual sport tires for my VStrom. Or are you in front of J&P?

I have heard of dry Tortugas state Park, but have not been there, sounds like a good idea..
If you plan on taking the FJR be sure and get a good running start.

My paternal Grandmother was distantly related to the most famous inmate of the prison there, Dr Samuel Mudd.

Remember there is a RTE in Flagler Beach @ Martin's restaurant on Friday (March 11). Kicking tires starts @ 11, and they open the doors @ 11:30. Everyone is welcome and it is mostly LD types. Come on out and check out the bikes. Dunno if 101st will make it, but I'll be there altho likely on the dreaded old HD
I'm gona try and make this. Look for the old fart on a 14 ES from SC.

Since the weather forecast is much improved I think I am going to ride up tomorrow. It's about 3.5

hours each way for me. So a nice long day ride. I will throw a bag on the back just in case I want to

stay. I will probably get there and get irritated by all the traffic and just make a U-turn.

There has been a food truck right by the bridge on main street. They have some pretty good ribs and

greens. That will probably be a must stop. One year we were staying in a hotel right down the street so I told the lady just give me a whole side to go!

I was headed to J&P today (Sat.) I waited in line to get into the parking lot. After watching the IDIOTS on 2 wheels (Not to mention listening to them revving their bikes)

I pulled a U-turn and got the heck out of there. I cannot stand bike week… Doing the IBA's "Plane Crazy BBG" out of Jax to Macon/Pooler… I had to witness all the

trailers loaded up with pretty bikes, all headed south to be unloaded so the "Riders" could cruise the strip for a weekend.

So I made it down for a few days, I messed up and didn't get to meet Gary house when he was there, but I did get to meet Big John, he had the best line that sums up Daytona so well "Daytona, where guys ride the same bike, and dress the same way to express their individuality"! I kept saying that to myself as I watched the craziness. Anyway, I rode alot, loved every second on the bike. I couldn't stop cranking it up leaving the stoplights, I can't get over the power! I was acting like a 50yo kid but I didn't care. 900 miles down, another 1000 to go. heading to the keys. The dream continues.

14 Days was plenty long enough. Thanks for stopping by JJ, and the other two guys whose handles and names now slip my feeble mind.

I'm so tired of Loud Pipes, Louder Stereos, Big front Wheels, 50+ year old women letting too much hang out, constant cigarette smoke and the constant question "You got a windshield for my Blue Harley?"

Glad to be home in South Dakota once again.

21 degrees south of town....

The front wheels get bigger and the stereos louder.

Met bigjohnsd at Destination Daytona !

One guy had to fly to Puerto Rico because his mom had quadruple heart bypass,

worked out ok and he rode back with us. Never put on the rainsuit or was in any rain.

On the way out of the condo the Goldwing guy kicked it in a puddle and went down with minor damage.

Got a flat at the GA/SC border, "Wow you can fix that" Neophytes.

Made it all the way to mile marker 0. Best ride ever. Trying to post a pic but haven't figured it out
