I booked my room at the Longstreet and got a rate of $74.95. I asked about the Dangerous Curves gift certificate and they said they knew nothing about that, but it did give me $10 off the second night. Did I miss something??
Don't think so... the $10 gift certificate is something that you ask for when you check in. Guess you lucked out! ;)

Using GPS Navigation:
GPS Navigation to sites to remote locations like Death Valley are notoriously unreliable. Numerous travelers have been directed to the wrong location or even dead-end or closed roads. Travelers should always carry up-to-date road maps to check the accuracy of GPS directions. DO NOT DEPEND ONLY ON YOUR VEHICLE GPS NAVIGATION SYSTEM.

I hope to be able to make this Death Valley run. It is always great to ride there. There are some family events being scheduled at that time, though, that might conflict. I probably won't know how this all sorts out until after New Year's day.

Anything else nearby? Haven't pulled the trigger on this yet as still waiting for BajaMark and Joseph to get their ducks in a row...

You can try the Amargosa Opera House and Hotel which is about 8 miles away. I'd recommend making a reservation so you have somewhere to stay and you can always cancel... I'm also pretty sure there will be some flux at Longstreet as we get closer so try calling back every couple of weeks. :)

Dear Miss Tyler, we AZ Beemers are good friends of Kathy the Proprietor of the Amargosa Opera House. Just got off the phone with Kathy and at this time she has 14 rooms available for February 13 Saturday and the 14th Sunday, her direct number is 1-760-852-4441. You can also use Booking.com or Expedia.com to secure your room, do remember that it is RUSTIC (by that I mean good enough for Canuckistanis, eh!). JSNS, Frostback Hosers ese!

Can someone suggest a good route from Vegas to Tehachapi?
The easy way would be I15 to hwy 58. I don't have any local knowledge for back roads. If you stay on 58 you will end up in DCarver country so be careful.
Thanks for the warning!

Nothing to worry about there Bob. I rode by in 2011 and threw stones at his house...he just wouldn't come out and play.

Took Ms Ty's advice and tried the Longstreet Casino first, just now - they were able to book two standard rooms for me - we are in! (with BajaMark and the lovely Diana)

Joseph - book a room on spec - you can always cancel...
