I have been able to change my room from smoking to non-smoking and a room with two beds intead of one.

Stagecoach both nights, non smoking.

If anyone wants to split it let me know.

KJ,

Did you want to limit this ride to any particular number of riders ?

There is a slim possibility of two more. A Honda ST 1300 and BMW 1150

pair that like to ride the iron butt rides.

Don, want to check to see if we can get a non-smoking room??

KOB, I tried this AM, they said no. What I can do is call tomorrow, make my preference known, then call back every day to check.. Would have to hit somebody else cancelling to make this happen. The one lady I spoke to earlier said the smoking rooms weren't bad at all; she is very sensitive and has stayed in them. Never the less, I'd still prefer a NS room.. I think I'll implement the plan.. it's a 1-800 number and I can do it first thing every morning.

No, I'm not limiting the number, the more the merrier, as long as they're riders!

Here's a slightly more detailed, "proposed" ride plan;

The only thing I like to discuss before we take off for somewhere is; "if" anybody is "peeling off" let's hear about it before we are underway. We should always discuss personal "objectives" before each segment, and at the very least, set up "meet up" points down the road!

Larry, you "are" going to bring that Chatterbox Multi-sport X 2-channel communicator Right? I'm bringing mine! I only get concerned "if" I am leading, all of a sudden I count sheep (11/13?) in my rear view, and I can't make the count. Then, I feel "compelled" to pull over, turn around and go see what happened. I guess it's the sheperd in me!

I'd like to get underway from Beatty (everybody gassed up) on Saturday - Feb. 17, for the "sight seeing" part of the ride in the early AM after sunrise (7:00AM or so), so we can stop in Rhyolite for some early morning picture taking.

Then, down the valley toward Furnace Creek for a late morning breakfast = 9:30/10:00AM?

In the later morning 11:00/11:59 AM, we should begin heading toward Badwater with a tour through Artist's Drive. Great erosive sedimentary deposits, with rainbow colors! Unfortunately however, this is best seen "later" at Sunset! But the ride must go on!

Next stop = Badwater; has rest rooms, Moses parted the Sea here, so a stop is probably mandatory?

The segment out of the Valley over Jubilee Pass (178) to Shoshone is one of my "FAV" parts of a Death Valley ride. Upon arrival in Shoshone we should check out the trading post/museum that Silver Bullett described here earlier, and ask about Mrs. Brown? Gas stop & probably a snack?

Then off to Death Valley Junction (127) and back into the Park (190) for a final vista of the Park at Dante's View. The side road to Dante's View is a great side trip with some nice twisty bits. The reward at Dante's View is a photo op of the entire valley at the top of the Funeral Mountains (6500+ ft.), just above Badwater, 200 ft. below sea level immediately below!

The last segment is to head past Furnace Creek (has gas) for the "barn" at Beatty; =dinner, some tire kicking, and general kibbitzing!

Now, "Bugnator" said in his post that there was no-one manning the north gate. I've NEVER seen anybody at the South gate on 190 at this time of year, but there could always be a surprise? Thanks for the weather report and headz-up on the Leo concentration there! Thanks Bugnator!

Bring your CA. State Park Pass (if you've got one?), camera, snacks and water JIC.

Ride range between gas stops will be around 200 miles.

Let's ALL try to avoid a PERFORMANCE AWARD! I will be carrying a radar detector (Escort Solo in the tank bag with helmet mounted speakers) so, "if" I'm leading and going slow, don't pass me.

Now, cross your fingers so that "El Nino~" doesn't throw something "unexpected" at us. If it's raining 2 days before the 16th like the 14th with a "sour" weather forecast, we may ALL need to "cancel" our reservations! I truly "Hope" this ALL works out?

KJ,

I read you loud and clear. I do so love the breakfast and coffee thing.

This ride is getting to sound better all the time. I haven't seen

some of these places.

Sent you a PM on signals and stuff. Check it out.

I would personally like to suggest: water, tire plug kits and a number of

Co2 cartridges and an inflator. Typical FJR metric allen/ wrenches, zip ties

and duct tape. I'll bring what I have and maybe other riders have this stuff also.

Probably will never use it but then again it's the "D" Valley.

As the pirate once said, you're a goood man. I don't care what all your other friends say about ya.

Unfortunately the weather forecast for central NM and AZ isn't looking good at least right now for next Wed/Th when I'd be riding over to L.V. If that front moves through more quickly though it could clear out before then. I'll be keeping my eye on it over the next few days.

B) Hey guys Minuteman here. I would like to join in on the fun sounds like a fun ride. If I can get a room in Beatty.

I will be planning to meet up for Lunch in Ridgecrest. Do you have a ETA in Ridgecrest. I will be coming from Yucaipa and would like to ride up with someone ?

Hopefully it will workout.

Thanks, Dan

Yo Dan...Welcome!

"Proposed" ETA at Ridgecrest is between 12:30 and 1:00 PM.

"Hope" you "find" a partner to ride with!

Check with the Stage Coach, they seem to have some "overflow" reservations!

What model are you ridin' exactly, a 2006?

cheers,

Hey minuteman. we will leaving the Chino Hills area at about 8:30 and will be meeting someone in teh victorville area if you want to hook up wuith us there and ride teh rest of the way up to ridgecrest and DV. I would estimate that we will get to VV area arount 9:30 to 10:00.

Skuehl,

I thought I might have another 1K on the Pilot Road front

but got it replaced yesterday at Cycle City, Irvine; less than ten minutes :)

and done (Cycle Parts West out of stock) . They have a good selection of Pilot Roads and Avons/ others. Five dollars cheaper.........

Didn't even have enought time to get that Pastrami burger at the old location off of El Toro Rd.

Oh Well ............

It appears to me that "Minuteman" could conceivably meet us at your

house in Chino Hills at 8:15 AM or FJamR's in Hesperia at 9:00/9:15 AM

He's about 45 mi. from you nearly directly East in Yucaipa.

What do you think ?

Hey Death Valley Rider Guyz - Reality check here...

I think it's a good idea for all riders to have an ICE (In Case of Emegency) phone number(s) availavble to the other riders on this trip.

If everyone shows, we will be +12 riders strong on this ride. That's a big group.

I know, this kind of talk isn't plesant, but shoud you be the fella busted up, you would LOVE to know that your peeps have been informed and taking care of your sad busted up ***.

So, if you want to, PM me with your cell or home phone numbers, I will compile and print them out for you and the other riders. I hate to cast the spell of reality, but trust me, there is nothing worse than attending to a fallen rider and not knowing who loves them... Been there, hope to never do it again.

I promise to not sell your phone numbers for profit to Viagra sales women..

With me doing the "Death Valley in a Day" thing, I'll probably just say "hello" to you all and try to put some faces to screen names in Ridgecrest. I'll fill up, skip lunch there and head to Dante's View. Doing that, if I leave Ridgecrest @ around noon, I get to Dantes around 3:00, spend 1/2 hour there, I should be home 7:00ish.

B) Hey Skuehl. I would like to hookup with you guys at the McDonalds at the 15 and 138 Wrightwood and Silverwood lakes turnoff. Just give me a ETA and and I will give you my cell phone # to be sure.

Got a room for the 16th and 17th in Beatty. 2 beds if someone needs a place to rest.

Looking forward to the ride, Dan.
