Sounds like a good Idea; I'm going for Motel 6 (again)

If no one else goes ;we'll just hangout with the "BEMER RIDERS!"

Hey Carver bring (wire nuts)

Airhead

So then, per the unwritten Forum rules...since Richard brought it up...he becomes the "default" ride leader? :clapping:

Let's see, does that mean we'll be riding according to Fairlaner's (tchoooo's--the sound he makes when he passes you at speed) Riding Rules:

1.) Follow the leader.

2.) Keep up with the leader. :dribble:

Rule #2 ought to eliminate about 95% of the Forum members.

Well, ya know what? I don't really doesn't matter who leads or who goes, because I've got my reservation at the Stagecoach for the 15th and 16th of 2008, and I'm going!

Here's a link to Dcarver's U-Tuber from last years ride at this time Death Valley President's Day ride/2007

and besides...Impromptu rides from the peanut gallery "might" just captivate someone else on a list's attention, such as the following;

“Chirp” = the sound that “a communicator” makes…

#1 Entry – Captain’s Log

Stardate: 1/1/2005 (New Years Day)

Time: All Day

Speed: Varied with mood, but mostly within limits.

- 7:30 AM - Absolutely clear skies, 65 degrees and dry.

- Most pavement on route newly laid and oiled crushed granite chip seal (granite cap) to older, but flat and un-bumpy seasoned pavement, with mild sprinklings of loose gravel here and there. Just enough road noise to make one aware not to get to twitchy on the throttle while projecting an entrance into the apex on some of the turns.

- Saw some cars, and some Gold Wings! Accidentally bagged a squirrel (couldn’t be avoided), he ran straight into one of the Feejers.

- Two Feejers (Yamaha FJR 1300’s) one from the North and one from the South converged on a pre-determined meeting place at the intersection of CA 25 and CA 198.

- After a short rest, the riders in ATGATT, headed for Fort Hunter Liggett military base on 198/San Lucas Rd.

- The entry into the base required a search of primary credentials including driver’s license numbers, current vehicle registration, and current proof of insurance.

- Dismount at the old Hacienda belonging in the old days to William Randolf Hearst, Architect = Julia Morgan.

- Headed out into the Ventana Wilderness on Milpitas then Indria roads to the blockade at the end of the slide from the Loma Prieta quake of 1985. This is where Indria road used to go through to the Arroyo Seco Campground (maintained by Monterey county).

- Then turned around and came back (about 20 miles) to the Hacienda.

- Next, headed over Nacimiento/Ferguson road to CA 1 (“the One”), to the coast (Pacific) maybe 16 miles?

- The two riders settled into patio seating at the restaurant of the Lucia Inn and consumed a BLT and an order of Fish N’ Chips and lot’s of water.

- Upon departure from Lucia, One Feejer went North and the other south on "The One".

- At the end of the southern leg, upon pulling into a driveway at 4:30 PM, one

odometer said 265 miles.

Commander of the Feejer that headed south = Chirp!

Over and out…

I stayed in A casino in Pahrump last year during DVD Beemer Rally & rode over to Beatty for breakfast with the LD crowd - Got down to 28 deg on the way there at 8 A.M. Warmed up during the day though...

Well somehow we missed ya? We'll be there again this year. Airhead 124, Rudy Lopez, and I (all riding FJR's) have reservations in Beatty at the Stagecoach and the Motel 6 (next door), for the 15th and 16th of February = President's Holiday. Rain, shine, dust, beasts, or famine will not detour US from this mission. Oh, and this will be the 12th year in DV on this weekend for me. I am about ready to start this discussion as it's own thread.

Gentlemen: What we have here is a failure to communicate! There are two separate and distinct BMW Death Valley Events.

FJRobert: The event we went to last year and stayed at with myself, Dave Cooley and two dozen other AZ Beemers and Fast Tour Riders Group members was Death Valley Daze XII. Death Valley Daze XIII will be held January 25 throught 28th 2008.

Also, we always stay at the Pahrump Nugget. Their cocktail waitresses have the best **** jobs and their slots pay out best!

https://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=258058 and https://www.azbeemers.org/forum/index.php?topic=675.0 has all of this year's information on DVDXIII. FJRobert: Cooleyman and regular cast of characters are going North again.

Khunajawdge: The event you are going to is the Airheads BMW Club Annual Rally always held over President's Day Weekend.

www.airheads.org is the club for the Type 247 BMW models. DVD will also attract Airhead bikes, but DVD is three times the crowd of the Airheads Death Valley event. I just sold my home at 1714 Pine Avenue in Los Osos, I miss the Central Coast!
