Deer whistles, both passive that simply bolt on the fender and dynamic that broadcast have been discussed here. None have been proven to actually work (at all). The only whistles that I know of that positively does work are HERE, when these are activated it definitely gets deer to avoid you.

If you load them with blanks, they are equally effective at spooking deer.

Oh trust me, there are plenty to go around. After just ONE close call and you will be ready to blast away !

I have never meet a deer in my journeys,i know it can cause a bad accident, but really i wouldn't like to kill them..I love all the animals...

If i had an accident with a deer,i am not sure, but perhaps to thought about a murder...But not for now...!

I ride the Natchez Trace quite a bit and country back roads. I also see many deer, daily around my house. What I've noticed is that everyone of them are look up when I'm coming on my bike or passing. I figure the engine or wind-noise from the bike gets their attention.

Where I see a problem is when they are running scared and cross the road in front of me but, the same could happen with someone turning left of running a stop signal.

Never thought the whistles did much.

At one time I came so close to a crossing deer that all that I could see was brown for a second. My Dad riding behind me couldn't believe I didn't hit it.

My household is a no-kill zone for just about everything that can be detained and relocated.

In the United States we average 200 human deaths per year in light vehicle collisions with deer. I would say that makes deer one of the most dangerous animals in our country even without including injuries. During the rut and hunting season where hunters are in the woods stirring up deer it becomes especially dangerous. There are some states that are notable (like Pennsylvanian) where the number of dead deer on the roads and railroad tracks is astonishing and memorable. If you are on a motorcycle, be very afraid in these states.

You need four of them, and don't forget to buy one of those intake Tornados too...

They're some who believe, many others who don't.

Even if the whistles do put out a pitch that the deer do not like, I cannot see it working if the deer are dashing (spooked) out of the woods and into your path.

A real world test for the effectiveness of sonic generators (whistles, horns) for deer: Ask you insurance agent how much of a discount you will get if you use a deer whistle to prevent accidents.

More.
