Doing an oil change Saturday with a strap type filter wrench, I torqued the filter to factory specs, and then noticed that there was a dime size dent on the side of the filter where the wrench bears against it when tightening. Should I pull the filter off and install a new one (yeah, I know, hand tight is enough!) or just let it go?

The end cap type wrench I bought at Auto Zone is just a smidge too loose, so I thought the strap wrench would be the ticket. Wrong.

If the dent isn't too deep, just keep an eye on it for potential leaks. Otherwise, I don't think I'd bother changing it unless it's going to bug you to the point of distraction.
