@ Sparky

No WE need to saved from the likes of YOU.

Our Society is way over burdened because of people just like you.

Its your right, up until you screw yourself up.

Then, its oh help me, its my rights! I have rights, you owe me.

Anyone that doesnt take and use proven precautions, is asking for it.

Why should society have to pay for your ignorance?

Helmets, seatbelts, life jackets, ect. arnt for the individual that doesnt want to wear them. Its for the protection of the masses that end up supporting the person

who didnt use them.

As far as saying there was this time when a Seatbelt, helmet, life jacket, caused a death, or injury, I can counter with 100's of cases where they did work, where

they did the job, where they protected us from you.

Hug your own bubble wraped tree.

My problem is with government not with Helmets.

If you like Government telling you what to do great. Be a blind follower.

I can make my own decision and I choose to wear a helmet even in states where I don't have to.

Government and Insurance lies seem to be working on some of you and that is great live oppressed if you wish...

Hey Bounce - Shouldn't you have put a helmet on that one feller getting his head bashed in? Call the FEDS we have a SCOFFLAW on the board! :D

"Do You Always Wear a Helmet?"

No.

But when I ride a motorcycle I do. I always have. I always will. And I have worn a full-coverage helmet for the last 20 years.

My last get-off my helmet and visor were all scraped up. My glasses weren't even knocked askew. Had I not been wearing the AGV, my head injuries would have been real and serious.

Following that experience, only a moron would ride helmetless.

Huh? Bush rides a motorcycle? I thought he only rode horsies and thermonuclear tactical warheads...

(I just though I'd throught that in there to make your day, YT! ;) )

Maybe only a moron crashes :D

I drive my bike not to crash. Never have.

I drive my truck not to crash.

Don't need a seat belt. My brother died wearing a seat belt. They didn't save him.

Wear, don't wear whatever. Guns, motorcycles, skateboarding on and on. Many things in this country are not PC.

They love to regulate and in some cases simply take them away to protect us from ourselves. Personally I don't need them telling me how to protect myself.

If they really want to protect us why don't we have to wear helmets in our cars. A helmet would have saved my brother, but try wearing one in a car some day and see how far you get.

Burden on society, Oh my what a joke. You guys that I seem to be agitating seem to keep mentioning this one thing.

Burden on society, look up the number of cage drivers lying in a hospital in a coma that are there creating bills for months and years. Look at the number verses motorcycles and tell me where the "Burden is". Because cars are PC no one is trying to eliminate them...

Burden on society. Keep sending money to all the foreign countries year after year to support and help non Americans yet you guys seem to be so worried about the few motorcycle accidents our money goes for.

Whatever you make me laugh! HA HA HA!!!

Hey I'm a Moron AND I wear a helmet...and now that I'm single again, I sometimes wear TWO helmets...yeah...at the same time :D !

Bobby

Well, I think he would spell it "Thermonukyuler". But he doesn't ride interns, so all is well.

Have you heard the latest? Now you can't activate a cell phone that isn't GPS capable. You can be pinpointed whenever it's turned on. Supposedly, it's so they can find you when you call 911 and are hallucinating on Meth. But I know it's just one more way for big brother to spy on me. I'll just have to leave it at home when I'm out on my Grey Ops missions.

Damn, Bobby, maybe you need to find a nice, country girl; stay away from that evil street squish!

BUSH IS A MORON. THAT IS A FACT. THEREFORE HE COULDN'T POSSIBLY KNOW WHAT A HELMET IS!!

Sparky, I agree with you on the CHOICE to wear protective gear. I wear a helmet and gear all the time, because I choose to.

As for the BURDEN on SOCIETY argument:

I guess all the Joggers out there must be Legislated into wearing helmets and gear, because even low speed crashes can leave a person as a veg.

A Guy has developed a Bear Attack Proof suit, ALL PEDESTRIANS must be legislated to be wearing these suits at all times, in case they are involved in an accident that might make them a Burden on Society.

All bathtubs must be legislated to have a mechanical assist for getting a person in and out of the tub without slipping and falling, again Burden on Society.

All Government employed People to be evaluated to ensure productive meaningful work is being done, Again Burden on Society........The list goes on.....

VOTE for Me on the next election , and I will save you from yourselves,,, regardless of what it costs you!!!!!

It is hard to convey one's entire thought on this subject on a thread but I have tried.

My biggest disbelief is people have chosen to call me arrogant at feeling I shouldn't have this forced on me yet they feel they have the right to call people who feel they should be allowed to chose arrogant.

While I am not trying to force anything on anyone they are so who is arrogant??

It is like the people who grew up in the 50's & 60's without all this political crap and didn't wear helmets on a bicycle. Amazing they actually made it out alive without later generations to save them.

I grew up riding 3 wheelers. I had more fun on those things than just about any bike since and because we had to be saved from ignorant people who didn't take the time to teach their kids to ride or whatever the reason they were taken away completely.

This Thread topic touches homes on more than just helmets. It is how our government and society seems to be today. From PETA, (I hunt and compete in shooting sports) Religion, (Can't seem to understand how History continues to repeat, in my understanding we left Europe to get away from religion forcing gov. to do things based on religious leaders interpretation of what GOD would want yet in 2005 in the USA we have so many religious fanatics trying to force government to force citizens to do things because of their beliefs). Lawsuits from people onto corporations because they want to blame someone instead of taking the responsibility themselves.

I guess I just tend to read into things more than I should.

Don't go mountain climbing too dangerous.

Don't sky dive too dangerous.

Don't drive your car too dangerous.

Don't go hiking too dangerous.

Don't go white water rafting too dangerous.

Ever look into how much money is spent on rescue operations for boating, hikers that get trapped, mountain climbers that can't get down on and on.

The people on this forum that want to call people stupid or morons for doing something that they themselves wouldn't do is to me stupid and moronic.

Just because you don't do something because you don't understand it or agree doesn't make someone elses decision wrong. Stop forcing your objections on others and trying to justify them by stating that your way is simply less risky and better for society etc.

PETA forces their beliefs on others.

Religious groups force their beliefs on others. (Jesus never forced anyone to do anything if you read the Bible yet our Government is full of people that feel they have to legislate things based on their religious beliefs)

Anti-gun groups force their beliefs on others.

Make your own decisions and stop forcing yours on others plain and simple.

OMG, Sparky, Are you saying, We should be resonsible and accountable for our own actions???? That can't be right, Quick call my Lawyer, Sue somebody!!!! It's gotta be somebody else's fault....... I Know.... It's Bushes fault!. There everything is better now.

Well, the last part of your statement is TRUE :D

I know he means well, just too easy of a target!!

Always all the time. Got in the habit years ago and just don't feel right without it. I also use a helmet when snowboarding. Same reason. Hard surfaces and my soft head do not go together.

I always wear a helmet. It's a motorcycle. I've fallen off before, and I'm sure I'll fall off again.

In Texas, no helmet is required. Well, ride like you wish. I'll wear a helmet.

Same for a seat belt. Ever been in a head-on collision? We were. Load of kids ran a red light as we were turning left with the green arrow. Hit just about head-on. We were wearing seatbelts and waited for a friend to come pick us up. They were not, and got a ride in the ambulance. Both vehicles totaled. Could have been real bad for us. It was real bad for them.

You see, it's simple physics. An object in motion tends to remain in motion. Car or bike comes to a sudden halt. The occupant or rider keeps going. You smash into the interior of the vehicle, or are ejected out the wind shield. The rider hits whatever is in his path. Hey, I didn't make this **** up; complain to Newton and Mother Nature.

Can you get away with no seatbelt and no helmet? Sure, maybe for you're whole vehicle-operating career. But that's not a bet I'm willing to make.

+1 on the Ever Present Helmet.

Two getoffs have reinforced that lesson - One in the dirt at 50 mph, landed on my head - got a light concussion and little else. Another on the road at 30 mph, landed on head and shoulder - helmet saved head (complete with mark down to base fiberglass) and leather jacket saved the rest of my skin.

Just because the ocean is wet, doesn't mean there is water in it.

Helmet for me when I ride.

Those ***** race drivers and their absolutely stupid insistence on wearing helmets (even in racecars!) and restraint straps. What morons.

At least the society has figured out with the national click-it-or-ticket campaign that it does not apply to school busses. <_<
