Moving jobs - back to the Marine Corps family at Quantico. Not the main reason, but a side benefit, my commute goes from 43.4 miles up Rt 95 at peak rush hour times to 11 miles on back roads!! Plus I get to sleep with a beautiful woman (yes, my wife Lorie) for another hour every day. :D

I'm starting 2 part-time jobs in the next 2 weeks. One is as a tech at an ER 3 blocks from my house on the midnight shift and the 2nd is teaching med students and residents how to perform certain procedures. Now I can take her on a trip to Sedona in may and not be hurtin. :yahoo:
Love the avatar. Rippy the Razor says get it right! Congrats on the new jobs. Both sound very interesting. In the unit where I usually work, we get trainee paramedics once a week. I really enjoy teaching them about the sick kids. Their instructor winds me up everytime by asking 'How's my favorite Harley Momma?'

Sedona is a great place to visit. We spent a week there last summer. About 12 miles away is the historic mining town of Jerome, which is well worth a wander around. Best of all, it's on the side on Mingus Mountain which is an awesome road. Unfortunately, the county supplies a pace car for every trip, so the delicious curves can only be tasted at the speed of Grandpa's Cadillac. The road from Sedona, north into Flagstaff is just beautiful too. It has some nice curves but too much traffic to do any decent speed. If you can ride these roads with the mindset of smelling the roses and having fun, you'll have a blast. We did an off-road tour in a Hummer, which was awesome. Several companies do Jeep tours but only one does the Jeep Eater tour. Our driver showed us what a real Hummer can do, versus the on-road limo versions.

I have good news to share too. Nothing major, but a collection of good things all happening together, which all make me a very happy camper.

Three weeks ago, I started a new, temporary job as a computer trainer at the hospital where I usually work as a nurse. I'm working five days a week and no weekends. That means I'm home for dinner every night and I get a work out every night. No more passing out on the couch exhausted.

So far, I'm still in training mode for the job but the classes are really easy and allow a lot of free time in front of a terminal (ie right now). I'm a computer addict, so meandering my way through the new software is interesting and not at all difficult. I'm looking forward to teaching classes for my co-workers in the near future.

Since the job happens between peak commuter times, I was encouraged to dust off the little Ninja and work on my lane sharing techniques. Nothing aggressive, mainly just filtering to the front of the line between stopped traffic. I'm riding the Coast road twice a day and thoroughly enjoying my commute.

The work out plan is coming along. Several months ago, Barry (Barabus) challenged me to join a beginners' running class. I thought he was joking because I'm no runner BUT........ I stuck with it and now I'm getting ready for my first 10K. I'm never going to win any races, but I'm having fun and getting fitter.

Our daughter helped a friend out some time ago, as an egg donor. Two weeks ago, the lady gave birth to healthy twin girls. These are our virtual-grandaughters. The reason that the birth Mom needed a donor is that she is sixty years old. She already has four grown kids but wanted another one with her new husband, who is in his forties.

Andy and I have been out to the desert a couple of times, learning to ride our dirt bikes. My learning curve seems to involve picking my bike up a lot, but the good thing is that I have an itty-bitty bike which is real easy to ride as well as pick up.

Life is good. I am richly blessed.

Man, had to dig so far back to find this thread. What the were no good news since March???? I am sure someone got lucky in a thing or two, or some one got a great deal on their car insurance or something???

I know I have found another hobby that I can enjoy while I am enjoying the other and the best part wife is happy about it :)

I can have my cake and eat it too. Ride to the game, see the game, enjoy the company of my better half. I think that constitutes for a good news. :)

Damn right that is good news.

I was just thinking this morning about how lucky I have been with finding gently used farkles from forum members over the last few months. I have scored some real deals on bar end weights, a N-Line Shelf, and best of all a NEW Super Brace for about 1/4 the price it should sell for.

Color me happy, since every dollar saved means that many more dollars for other farkles.

I scored a 4.0 GPA last semester. :yahoo:
And you're in Chico, where there are twice as many women as there are men. And you have an FJR with some pretty wonderful roads not far off in the Sierras.

Yea, that's all good news for you, mate.

(I'm a Chico grad - Class of '89)

Let's see.....markets are crashing, banks are going under at an amazing pace, IT jobs getting outsourced by the thousands. Hmmm...I work for a large bank....I work in IT. I STILL have my job! That is truly good news for me :D

One person's bad luck is anothers pot o' gold. My son just closed on his first home here in Napa. He is a machinist at Flowserve and actually listens to his parents. My wife convinced him to buy a home after he saw how much Uncle Sam takes. It's a nice 3/2 for $299k...sold for $535k three years ago. Got a 5.5% fixed for thirty years....nothing down and even came out with $3200 at closing!

I got married this past weekend. Photos

You’re killing us Murph!

We’ve seen your better half on top of a mountain, & she wasn’t “The Mountain” in these photos. ;)

However there is a strong resemblance between you & the groom.

Isn't that what got us into this mess to start with??????????????
Actually, it was the interest-only ARM at 2% for 12 months, nothing down person that bought the house for 535k and could barely afford the $1000 a month payments initially, and then the ARM jumping to 8% and the guy not even coming close to making $3800 payments and defaulting on his loan that got is in this mess...

My wife and I had a lovely holiday in Italy. I was expecting 3 weeks of churchs and other old fogie stuff but she surprised me with a new FJR on arrival and we toured the Italian Alps and had a wild & wonderful time under the Italian stars.
