I just wanted to publicly congratulate my friend, occasional riding partner, and overall

good egg, Dr. Rich, on his recent retirement.

He's worked very hard all his life, (he tells me), and I couldn't be happier for him.

I think the official date was, ....um, when was it exactly Dr. Rich?

Um, thank you. He says it was the FIRST of July.

I'm sure now you'll have more time to ride, and kill innocent wild animals, and annoy Susan. :D

Enjoy it Rich.

(And there's one more beer you owe me.)

He's jes sore you didn't take him to Oregon with ya...

...oh yeah congrats there Dr Rich! :clapping:

<copier room guy voice>

Mr Richman...Richguy with the motorcycleman...the man with the retirement planman...

Congrats Dr Rich! :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

Hmm... I was tired yesterday... I'm tired today... Does that make me RE-tired?

I see how it is. People are looking for a job and you leave a perfectly good one.

Did I hear someone say, "Abandon Ship".

Congrats Rich. The northern states are calling.

Mike

Only 25 more years and I, too, can retire...

:dribble:

:angry2:

Congrats! Take some time and come out our way, give ya a tour of the finger lakes vineyards.

Thirty Five Years is Enough....Time for this old draft horse to go to pasture... Momma retires in December with 37 years. We both started in education. I taught automotive and physics and she was a speech pathologist. I worked my way up to be a school superintendent and finished at the VP level for a Community College. Susan is currently a coordinator in Special Education having been a Director of Special Education and published two books. These next few years will be filled with some long trips on the FJR, guiding and fishing in Alaska, doing some hunting and spending time with the kids. I am envious of those of you that have grandchildren. Both of my kids have families on hold right now.

I have had several folks ask me how I did it and I tell them it is perseverance.... I define perseverance as putting up with the BS to get where you want in life.... Dreams really do come true if you maintain an attitude of determination, optimism and perseverance. It isn't easy or fun sometimes but if you keep the end in mind you can achieve your goals... And thanks to Old Michael for outing me!

:clapping: Congratulations, Rich! :clapping:

Truth now....with CA having so many budget woes your job wasn't funded and you took your retirement before they could attach that, too.....right?!?!?!?!

If you really want the truth, one of my divisions was Human Resources and with the impending layoffs and the damage that would be done to the college. employees and families, I decided that it was not the way I wanted to end my career. Our enrollment was up by 5% but the state would not be funding growth. Makes no sense but what in this state in terms of politics does. My job was secure but other weren't. It was just time to move on and make way for someone younger and more capable. Also I was jealous of you guys that got to go to CFR. Now I can ride like Old Michael... any time, any day, with no cares.... except when they are passing out the free government funded cheese.

Retire? What is this retire you speak of? Myself and my friends will be working for the rest of our lives :(
Me too.

Choosing (and sticking with - good grief, 35 years in the same field?! I'm into my 3rd completely different career already) an employment path ending with a pension plan is sounding pretty good about now. Anybody got a solid lead on this job? https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//index.php?s...st&p=579590

Congrats Dr. Rich.

Congratulations.....

Retirement.. It's a tough job , but someone has to do it

I jumped ship myself last Nov. (wanted to take the holidays off, something new for me) after 33 years with the same company. I bought my FJR as my retirement present to myself. Best present I have ever got....

Way to go, Dr. Rich! You've not quit your job. You've merely taken on a much harder one - retirement!

Now there's no excuse to not ride everywhere and see everything!

Enjoy!
