Well it looks like my riding season will end on the 13th of september..

I will be going in for rotator cuff surgery.

Riding season is short enough here in wisconsin this just makes it shorter..

Its going to be a long winter.........

That sucks. Long recovery time from that surgery. I hope it goes well for you and the winter is mild.

I lost a whole riding season a few years back to rotator cuff surgery a few years back. It definitely is not a quick recovery. Follow your physiotherapist's directions carefully to ensure a proper recovery. Your dealing with some very small muscles and ligaments that are easily damaged but you unfortunately already know that.

Sorry to hear that, Jim. Do your physical therapy religiously so you're ready next Spring to jump (gently) back on your FJR.

I spent years in the upper peninsula of Michigan. Talk about a short riding season...

Bummer, too bad you could not have put it off for a month or two. I'd be happy to ride it out west and run it every weekend just to keep the battery in top notch condition

Good luck with the surgery.

I, too lost a season because of two shoulder surgeries. Fortunately, only bone spurs and the rotator cuff just needed cleaning up. If the rotator cuff is damaged, you'll be down for 4 to 6 weeks. Then do the therapy, I know from experience. Good luck.

Like has been said, Do the therapy whether you like it or not. I didn't at first and paid dearly later on.

Maybe You can get Bust to come over and show you how to have fun with one hand

I opted not to do the surgery and fully recovered in about a year, the same amount of time as if I had had the surgery. Dr's are a little too eager to cut sometimes, espacially if your insured well. I wasn't, so the choice was an easy one, but the Dr told me I could mend on my own, if I could take a little pain in the process. Full range of motion and alot cheaper :yahoo: good luck to you!

I like how this guy thinks.

What's the down side to waiting?

Had my left rotator cuff repaired last Nov. 11. Glad I did it, but wouldn't want to again. Rode my new Wing 25 miles home a month later (as soon as I could stretch my arm out far enough to reach the bars- did I catch hell for that!). Did therapy 2-3 times a week right up till April, was back to work on limited duty first week of Jan. and ready to ride when spring arrived. Be very careful not to re injure it for the first 6 weeks and do the therapy religiously and you'll be ready to ride in the spring. Good luck with it, the relief from pain makes it worthwhile.

Hell dude...Put it off until the end of riding season. I put off two knee surgery's for riding season and pistol matches. I healed up on my own time.

Unless, use, pain, or some other factor makes you do it sooner, out it off until you want to do it.

Umm dude? What about the *** change thingy yer contemplating? What's the recovery time looking like for ya?

Best well wishes to the recovery. Stick with the Rehab and do the exercises.(as stated in previous posts)

In a few weeks you'll start remembering how much flexibility you had; although you'll swear the therapist is

trying to go beyond the old limits...LOL

Been there done that...Torn Labrum; I've heard RC is a bit more due to muscular reattachment.

After 5 weeks, I would get on the bike to see how close I could reach the handlebars.

Honestly it was easier to ride the bike better than driving.....you'll see why that first time you go to

turn the steering wheel and forget to let go with the healing shoulder hand....

Best of Blessings to ya!

Best wishes on a speedy recovery. At least it isn't hemorrhoid surgery. Then you'd end up unable to sit, and with an A-hole as big as Bust's.

All I'm saying is it could be worse.

Um...Even if I was a woman, I still wouldn't let you have *** with me. You're going to have to keep dreaming. Maybe Beemerdons will let you hump him!
