Not coming? WTF is that? After last year, I thought that you loved us EOM-ites & the places that we ride.Edited to add: Posted about two weeks ago by mua...

I'm trying to get some discussion going on this. I see that many have viewed this subject & will not post. This topic seems to have 10' pole marks all over it.
Ahhhh, the flurry of activity! See what happens when ya'll 10' poles are taken away.
Well WTF Heidi, it IS true. I do love all the EOMites and love riding WV. :yahoo: I will be back in WV...and maybe at this coming 2008 EOM WTF Tour. So don't getcher panties in a bunch... :clapping: ;)

I just hafta see how long my WFO/NAFO trip is gonna bite out of the vacation time. I haven't ridden wit dem feckers yet. Gotta meet 'em in person to see if they can really ride as good as they say they can. ;) Plus I hear der are mountains west of Kansas somewheres...

Well, thanks to Fencer and extrememarine for jumpstartin this sunb**ch and manning up. Except for my snarky comments, this thread seems to be moving along nicely.

I'm looking forward to going back to Lewisburg as part of EOM, or not doesn't matter to me :) The roads, routes, and scenery are just awesome.

We did almost all the routes last year except one, then hit a lot of the roads again on the way to the Void Rally and back.

I really, wish I was in a position to step up and help organize this, but with the new baby and all the other kids activities I just cannot.

If someone builds it, they will come.

Heidi/Jim,

Thanks guys! :yahoo:

I'll be sure to look those up. Wasn't there a thank you thread from last year here? I'm "working" right now, but should be able to paruse the site later. I'll try to get cracking on those as soon as possible and as soon as we get a date finalized!

And to everyone else viewing, if there is ANY type of product you all are interested in me TRYING to get some sort of prize/discount/deal on, let me know and I'll start man-handleing them to give us something good! :assassin:

My vote goes to Lewisburg and Sept 19-21. I too would be happy to help out. I have taken a new job and it is keeping me very busy but if I can make some phone calls, preride the routes or help with registration, or do something during the event weekend, I will be glad to step up.

We also voted for Lewisburg and Sept. 19-21. The distance is just at the limits of our riding abilities, and we already now how to get there! Hope for sunshine.

Outnumbered here but I vote for Chattanooga. There is beautiful mtn scenery in both NE Bama and Just to the N of Chatt. Excellent, twisties. You have the Ocoee area to ride, and if you want, Helen GA and the Mts of N. GA are right there as well. If you stayed at a hotel between Cleveland and Ooltewah, traffic wouldn't be an issue...you are close enough to Chatt. to enjoy what the city has to offer but not stuck in the city itself.

With the "official" EOM going in Daytona in October, would anyone want to get together for a weekend this summer and show me some of these great roads I keep hearing about. I love to ride Skyline Drive / Blue Ridge Parkway but I'm not familiar with some of the other regional roads.

I'm going cross country in the spring CWO if you'd like to tag along.

I may be up for the cross country ride. A buddy of mine is returning from Iraq in April and he wants to ride back to San Diego from Atlanta. I told him that, if he is serious, I will go with him. He rides sport bikes and I really don't see him doing 2800 miles on a crotch rocket but he may surprise me. All of that being said, what is your timeframe for departure, estimated travel time, and destination? Anybody else interested? Sounds like another IronButt ride.

Gunner - short answer, yes! In your area (sucks for riding!) Luvtoride (Heidi) is probably the one with the most knowledge of where to go - unfortuneately for you that probably means at least a couple of hours west. I'm in Stafford VA, probably 2.5 - 3 hours from you. (Side note, I was the MARDET CO on the NIMITZ from 86-88 and lived in Kempsville for a year - not usre what it's like now, but traffic was absolutely horrible to and from the Navy Base - only good side was that I had a parking place on the pier!)

But heck yeah I'll ride with you. There really are nice roads in VA, but they generally start out towards the mountains. Skyline drive is nice, but slow and I believe they'll be doing roadwork on them for some time to come. Lorie and I rode the Blue Ridge for a bit and really enjoyed it. WV, as Heidi will tell you, is a great place to ride.

Of course we could always meet near Richmond and explore roads down there. I've never been to Appomattox and wouldn't mind a trip out there. Do you ride year round? I do and am open for rides hot/warm/cold!

SF,

Jim

Yes...I do ride year round. The commute from Williamsburg to Norfolk is 45 miles each way. My other vehicle is a diesel truck, which gets 15 mpg compared to 45 mpg on my bike, so I ride whenever possible. It's also nice to have the HOV advantage on the bike.

After the New Year, I will definitely be up for a getaway ride if you can work it. Maybe Heidi would want to join in. Any other takers? I was considering a ride from Richmond to Front Royal, down to Waynesboro, and back to Richmond. Total distance is about 325 miles. Nice for a weekend ride. Just need to decide on a weekend. Maybe stay at a B&B along the way. What do you think?

USMC, they're shittin' ya' about Daytona if'n you didn't already pick it up. Turn on the ol' Smart-Assed-O-Meter. You don't know these guys yet, but if you did, you'd know that they are full of ka ka... but shhhhhh, they're having a good time friggin' with folks.

As far as roads in this & your immediate area... there ain't a whole lot going on. Suffolk has few sweeper farmland type things going on but no... I mean no, elevation change. For real, you are closer than me to the real live mountains. 3 hours for me (& approximately 2.25 for you) puts you in good territory for the dance known as the Twist & Sweep.

Definitely, let's catch up sooner than later & ride, Heidi

Normally, I'm sure that all this off-topic discussion would lead to a couseling session on the appropiate use of the PM system...

But I won't say anything since it's a couple of fellow leatherneck devil dogs. Semper Fi.

So...to get back on topic, are we meeting at Lewisburg the third week of September?
Only if someone organizes it...if you look at the other EOM thread, you will see that the EOM organizers have other ideas. :dribble:

However, that does'nt prevent you from riding in WV and letting people know yer coming. Maybe some other people might wanna join ya for some riding. However, you wouldn't have door prizes. Evidently, door prizes seem to be a major draw for some people here on this board.

There can be no doubt that I qualify as "obsessive" about riding. There is a HUGE amount of effort that goes into obtaining and distributing door prizes for events. Anyone who truly knows me will tell you, I care about RIDING. My point is that EOM minus door prizes, is just as attractive to me as EOM with door prizes.

And while on the subject of event "extras"... I rarely drink when riding long days or pushing the envelope. A hot shower, good meal and cushy bed are the amenities I prefer/require. Beyond that, I come to RIDE! Hell, it's hard to get me to even slow down for something pictureworthy, much less stop. Sorry, too much rambling!

I love meeting and yacking and socializing and telling lies with everyone. Great folks at EOM. But make no mistake, Haulin Ashe comes to ride his a$$ off. My vote is keep the overhead light. Keep the burden to others minimal. Give it a name. Give it a great location. Give it superbly planned routes. Give it a reasonably priced hotel with good eats nearby. And give me a 06:00 wake up call so that I can be burning tires by 07:00.

:)
