I voted (late) for WV. The weekend before I will be riding to Indi for MotoGP so if it is going to be the following weekend (19-21) I wont be able to make it this year. But maybe I could get there for one day...we'll see.

Mark, please keep me informed if you can again get the donation you did last year. That way I can be sure that EVERYONE who donated an item will get a nod and a thank you. Also, if you can think of anything else that you can get to be donated, go for it! I'm going to go thru the list of donatees from last year and get the ball rollin here in a month or two.

Heidi, if you have any advice on how soon to start this, please feel free to chime in or PM me.

Yes...I do ride year round. The commute from Williamsburg to Norfolk is 45 miles each way. My other vehicle is a diesel truck, which gets 15 mpg compared to 45 mpg on my bike, so I ride whenever possible. It's also nice to have the HOV advantage on the bike.
After the New Year, I will definitely be up for a getaway ride if you can work it. Maybe Heidi would want to join in. Any other takers? I was considering a ride from Richmond to Front Royal, down to Waynesboro, and back to Richmond. Total distance is about 325 miles. Nice for a weekend ride. Just need to decide on a weekend. Maybe stay at a B&B along the way. What do you think?

I voted for WV since I couldn't make it last year and missed out on all the fun. Besides, it appears with all these "Grunts" riding around they'll need a Navy Command Chief to point the way so they don't get lost. SF boys!
Yeah right, a swab jockey on land to point the way. ;)

I just hope all the squids don't forget the popeye suits.

Add one more former jarhead for WV. I missed the 07 by 2 weeks. I had already planned a trip to Lewisburg to visit my folks Labor Day weekend, and just happened to buy an FJr in August for the trip. Great roads to ride, plus i have a free place to stay, and home cookin'

Hi Dave, I missed your request for info. Sorry!

About prize begging... I started about 2 months prior to the event. I think that Jim Havard started about the same time. If you start too early, folks will forget that they made a donation & not send squat.

The prizes need to be sent to Jim Meadows. Jim has requested in the past that anything mailed to him not be sent Fed Ex. It seems that he's had a lot of problems in the past w/ Fed Ex... as in them leaving packages at the end of his driveway "in a ditch" or leaving a package at the wrong address, etc.

I have some suggestions for the actual begging. I'll be contacting you directly via PM.,

Heidi

Is there going to be any vendors this year at EOM? Last year a few of us would have liked to had the opportunity to purchase some riding gear, tires, exhaust, etc. Not trying to make this into a commercialized event. Just exploring another option.

My guess is that it doesn't happen unless someone volunteers to set that up and do all that work. Just a guess though...

One vendor was present @ EOM '05. This vendor sold nada... zero, zip, zilch. They even gave away a set of lights in the door prize giveaway, too. The vendor... it's the one that have the lights mounted on the forks? I forgot their name... but boy, that was some expensive lights for what you actually got.

I think that Mark is right.... there would have to be volunteers to set it up.

Don't know about him setting up a place, but I have a buddy who owns a shop here in Parkersburg that if anyone NEEDS tires, I might be able to see if I can get him to cut us a deal. Thing is, you'd have to order them in advance and if you wanted them mounted, ride up back up here for him to do it. If there is interest, I'll ask.

Dave,

Freedom Motorsports in Princeton did the tire thing last year and they have already been contacted about continuing for EOM 2008. They have tentatively agreed pending OK from the manager who was out the day I was in the shop. I'll be back in touch with them soon.

They had some pretty sweet deals and their shop is along a couple of the suggested routes. Several folks took them up on it.

Jim

And Fred.......volunteering?
