When I right click then select Save Link As, it automatically wants to save the file as a GPX.

Are you following the instructions in the red box above the route links? It should automatically open a file save window with file type defaulted to .GPX. when you right click and select "save link as" Then you just select or create the folder you want to save it in.

Well - Step 1 has been accomplished. Pants is not working September 25 though October 4.

(insert the Mormon Tabernacle Choir chanting here)

Step 2 has also been successful. MikeP1300 is also off for that time frame and we are going to ride somewhere.

Stay tuned - we're taking this one step at a time....

What browser are you using?

In Chrome I simply right mouse click on a route and select 'save link as'. Other browsers may be slightly different, but similar.

Once I have the files in a folder in my PC I open Basecamp and import them to Basecamp.

If I view or d/l the file it comes in as an XML file. I haven't tried renaming it to GPX and copying to my GPS, but plan to this weekend.

Viewing (double left click) will show the xml. If you right click it should poo up a small menu window with options, including "Save Link As"

Actually, when I used Chrome the files saved as .GPX, when I used IE they saved as .XML

I'll load them up tonight and see what happens

Here is what I found - in IE8 - the following steps worked for me:

- Right click on desired map URL (link)

- Select "Save Target As"

- Navigate to folder you want to save the file in on your PC

- Change "File Type" to "All Files" from *.xml

- In the "File Name" block, delete the "xml" and replace with "gpx"

- click "save"

General FYI regarding the routes - I will have a spare microSD card with me with the routes on it - anyone is welcome to bring their GPS and use that microSD card to load the maps while we're standing there ( I will not let someone borrow it and walk away..)

Another option, if you're unable to get through the download wizardry of the fjreom website, use the "contact us" link and send a request to have the files emailed to you. I will send them out as time permits.

I'll have my laptop as well, if needed.

First shot as it the routes wouldn't load. Upon investigating the files were all 1k and empty. I went back to the website and redownloaded them. Worked fine, viewed them in Garmin Basecamp and transferred them to my GPS. All is good.

Appreciate the help Wayne, et al.
