Allen - the EOM500 was a 500 mile loop of the most serious twisty roads around the Hendersonville EOM HQ that Lee put together as sort of a joke, thinking no one would actually attempt, let alone complete it. He didn't let me in on this little piece of sarcasm and I rode it. KSU was about an hour before daylight.

I would not suggest this type of riding for most. One has to be in a state of mind which allows a level of focus to maintain a pace well above the norm for well outside the expected period of time. You have to be of the mindset, that at various points along the route, of making and accepting an honest assessment of your alertness and ability to continue. One lapse, and you're up crap creek and no amount of paddles are going to help.

What is the EOM 500 and the Rally at NAFO?

AllenTo expand on Wayne's description, you should know that whoever follows "Chivvalry" will have a tradition to carry on- just you wait:.0
Shhh... dang it Tony, you're letting the cat out of the bag... I try not to lead anymore...

...or this guy...
Did you do that too?
I said to him at least a dozen times before the ride and several times during stops prior to this; "Ride your OWN ride... I will not lose you and you do not need to try and keep up through twisties..."

Unfortunately he missed a sharp turn (you can see the arrow in the background) enough to drop the front wheel off the pavement... at that point he bailed on it and bike slid into guard rail, bounced up and smacked the other side on the guard rail and then fell back over and slid for a little while longer. He walked away with some road rash on his gear and bruised ego. This was NAFO 2010.

Just remember...Chivvalry = Mayhem

I'll have an excuse of not being able to keep up

as It will be 2-up for me
Not an excuse! Bob and his wife led our group at the Appalachian campout for some brisk riding, including Hwy 129. Joe was behind then and my wife and I were behind Joe. The rest of our group, all 1up, trailed behind.
I fully believe in riding how you're comfortable and not over-extending yourself. I have a feeling I'll see some riders this time who are too aggressive for my likes!

I don't care how anybody else rides or how many cigarettes they've smoked waiting for me. I have learned that crashing hurts and don't give a flying feck what anybody else, riding their bike, thinks of how I ride my bike.

That being said, I love riding with my new and old riding buds...on some of the best roads there is

quite an ego there Allen. While ego stroking & patting yourself on the back, maybe you should talk about how you slept in a cabin @ a camp meet. & how someone else was in front of you 3/4 of the ride. (shaking of head)

No ego, just indicating 2up didn't have to be a hindrance. You were between Joe and us most of the day and I know you had tire wear worries towards the end.

Just ribbing Tony for trying to make an excuse. Having met him and his wife in Florida, I'm pretty sure he took my comment as nothing but light-hearted!

Oops, I guessed I missed what you were referring to. My apologies, Allen.

Well my pace will be much more relaxed from now on when 2-up. Spanky did not enjoy that run on the Dragon. I couldn't help my self. She even said she knew that was coming, because I was going to try and keep up with those two bikes that passed us. I did, too. Right up until I lost my back brakes! That was a blast and Spanky was a perfect pillion. Didn't feel her at all. She just didn't enjoy it and I respect that. I get plenty of opportunity to get my ya-ya's riding alone.
