This is Syd, from the MSTA group. Food and friends is very good, but a little pricey. Del Sol is diagonally across the street from Food and Friends. The food is mostly very good Mexican, and the cold beer list is endless. It's 'da happenin' spot in Lewisburg.

What does 'Mostly Very Good Mexican' mean? ;)

6 weeks....6 weeks! That's all that's left! For more than a 1/2 year, we've been planning and anticipating EOM '15, me especially. While the time, up 'til now, has crawled at a snail's pace while on methadone, the time now will start to haul ass. So for all you procrastinators, not named Vic of course, it is time to get it in gear! Mount the tires, get the oil changed, get those GPX files loaded, and buy those last minute items now. Because that 6 weeks is going to come and go before you know it. YMMV

I feel your pain! tby's FJR needs to be taken in for service soon (next week), my bike will need a new rear tire before we go, and probably some service as well. Thankfully we have the tire, and a friend who will do it, I am just waiting a few more weeks to get as much rubber off of this used car tire as I can. This same friend borrowed the Spyder for about a month while I was recovering from surgery. I trust him with my life (and bike, sort of the same thing!) and he researched a bit and found a bit taller and narrower car tire for cheap to try. It actually works pretty darn well. I'm having some sliding issues but we lowered the pressure a bit and then it dawned on me I ought to check the front tires, so that is what I'm going to do tonight before our ride time tomorrow. Friend also bought me a new and for-the-bike tire so I will take it to him when I'm ready since he learned how to change the tire when he bought the car tire, my previous tire was T O A S T.

I am sort of glad that time is moving slowly. I have been slammed at work, slammed at home and slammed trying to get these flyers done for EOM! :)

Once again my planning is forced to change. Some jackwad oiled down the road my wife and I ride to work everyday and have ridden for almost 23 years. Last Friday on our way to work she hit the aforementioned oil and went down. She has one fractured rib and her left leg is swollen. Her bike is pretty beat up and preliminary insurance estimate may have it totaled. We're going to the dealership today after I get off work to see what can be edited out to bring the costs down so she can get her baby back. Her '97 Harley is the first vehicle she ever bought brand new and she won't give it up without a fight. She is healing and in good spirits other than the bike issue. Believe it or not EOM has become something she is really looking forward to and NOT as a pillion. She should be capable of riding by that time it just remains to be seen what she'll be riding.

Aw Chuck, sorry to hear that. I hope it goes better than you're expecting it to!

My wife will be riding her FZ6R, and she is soooo excited and apprehensive at the same time. I know it would devastate her to lose her bike. I really hope she's able to keep it, and ride it to EOM.

All the best,

Rob

That sucks but glad that she is (mostly) okay... bikes can be fixed or replaced... people not so much. Sending healing energy her way and looking forward to seeing you both next month! B)

Why would someone oil a road? Is it some sort of maintenance or was it done intentionally to cause a crash?

BikerChuck, Stanley Boys are very sad and extremely sorry to hear of your wife's motorcycle Accident! JSNS, we'll pray for her rapid recovery!

Geezer,

There is a truck repair shop about 2 miles down from the northern end of the road. It would appear that either late Thursday night or very early that Friday morning a vehicle was towed or possibly driven in spewing some type of petroleum based product. She was the second bike to go down in less than an hour according to the police. Unfortunately he seemed to feel there would be no way to isolate exactly who brought in the offending Exxon Valdez and caused it.

Initial damage estimate on her bike easily exceeds book value. We're meeting tonight with the service manager at the dealership to discuss what we can do. Fortunately it's the HD dealer I worked for almost 12 years and the guys there know the wife and I very well. They'll do everything possible to get her on the road on her baby.

Appreciate all the kind thoughts and prayers guys! Look forward to seeing you all in Lewisburg!

Thanks for that explanation. I suppose carelessness without consideration for how it affects others is almost as bad as doing it intentionally. Best of luck with the repair or replacement.

That sucks about your wife going down. Glad to hear that she's on the mend. Good vibes being sent and good luck with fixing the bike or getting a new one (whichever she decides).

I have a reservation for a non-smoking king for Thursday-Sunday that I am going to cancel. Anyone need a room at the Quality?

So now it's 5 weeks, that went quick! Tomorrow I'll order tires, and get oil and filters for both bikes. Week 4, tires will go on and oil changes done. From there, it will be teaching my wife how to pack.....for a motorcycle. 😱

Tell her to put everything out and then cut it in half and then half again. That's as much as she'll need or use. ;)
