6 weeks....6 weeks! That's all that's left! For more than a 1/2 year, we've been planning and anticipating EOM '15, me especially. While the time, up 'til now, has crawled at a snail's pace while on methadone, the time now will start to haul ***. So for all you procrastinators, not named Vic of course, it is time to get it in gear! Mount the tires, get the oil changed, get those GPX files loaded, and buy those last minute items now. Because that 6 weeks is going to come and go before you know it. YMMV ;)
So now it's 5 weeks, that went quick! Tomorrow I'll order tires, and get oil and filters for both bikes. Week 4, tires will go on and oil changes done. From there, it will be teaching my wife how to pack.....for a motorcycle.
Tell her to put everything out and then cut it in half and then half again. That's as much as she'll need or use. ;)
Easier said than done. However, since she's riding her own bike, she'll learn about weight distribution. I think she will realize, fairly quickly, that weight can be your enemy. We'll see in a few weeks.

You guys might need more stuff than most. You have a long trip in front of you, don't you?

Well, yeah, we do. Leaving the 24th, and coming back home October 4th. Still, I can't let her bring everything she's used to bringing on trips. She's getting a "Motorcycling Packing 101" lesson, but I'm sure it won't be an easy one. :)

I've learned the hard way that Tyler is right. I was shocked at how little I needed compared to what I thought I needed. I shipped a box of stuff via the post office in maggie valley back home because I had too much stuff. I know better now. :)

Back in 2009, when Sooze and I were riding Route 66 after SFO (did anyone mention that it rained at SFO '09?), we discovered the USPS flat rate boxes. They're great! After our trip out west in 2010, we had about 10 of the things on our front porch waiting for us when we got home.

Andy, SFO09 was my first FJR rally ever. I remember it well. It rained like Holy Hell. For me, it rained like that on the three day ride there and back. That's when I learned that this bike is magnificent in the rain and that having a good rain suit is a real good thing. Still had a blast!! :D

Here's another place to visit, while in WV...

We have an identical place called Mystery Spot in Santa Cruz. Havent ever been there... Maybe will have to vist this one instead!

That does look pretty touristy, can't blame Bob if he 'passes Go' and collects a cold one back at the motel that much sooner.

I'm thinking I'll be hitting up the Asylum in Weston (I've been meaning to get there for years), and, I just found this place this morning:

You have ridden right by it. There's really not much to see. But in less than 15 miles you will be on a very addictive set of twisties on WV10 called Herndon Mtn.

I'm not even gonna talk about the mystery hole...geeezz.
