"Phone Queen" contender?? What can I say? Hello, HELLO?? Is anybody there? :telephone:

Riding with you guys the wife wants hourly reports that I'm still alive!! You really beat me up yesterday....15 hours

(7am - 10pm) and 521 miles. But it was definitely worth it..the great ride and wonderful people.

I just hope she's let me go again!

Thanks much and thanks for posting the great pics.

Roy :bike:

After riding UP Hwy 70, we had to ride DOWN Hwy 49. Oh darn!

One-land bridge entering Downieville.

Strangely, I haven't seen any pictures of the group eating ice cream. Were we all...er...uhm...distracted?

Again, I'm am so pleased to be a part of this wonderful group of people/riders. Riding is great but the NorCal owners are a huge part of making riding these roads such a wonderful experience. Youse guys really are the bestest!

Wow! How do I add to what has already been said. I guess just repeat it.

Great Ride. Great people. Great pictures. Great fun.

Thanks for puting it together, Mike!

I'm glad I got to meet a couple peeps from here while ya'll were stopped in Quincy. Old Michael wasn't too sure who I was when I first walked up to him. MadMike, glad I got a chance to meet you if only briefly. I'm really glad you folks were happy with the change of lunch venue. I did call Kim (the owner of Courthouse Cafe) and gave her a heads up that a large group of riders was coming in to invade her establishment sometime after 12:30 or so. She told me she would do her best to accomodate but still had to be able to keep her local customers happy.

2 side notes here. #1- it seems that my being in the parade probably saved me some heartache had I tried to tag along on part of the ride out of Quincy. The chain on my bike to shot to hell and back along with the sprockets. I knew it was getting worn when I took my grandon for a ride on his birthday last Tuesday, I could hear it making some really nasty noises when I started moving. I went out to clean, lube and adjust it this morning and found its too far gone. I really can't complain about it, I have over 32K on the sprockets and nearly 14K on this chain. Parts were ordered today and should be on the bike by Wednesday afternoon.

#2- And probably most important, be glad ya'll did this ride Saturday and not Sunday. As of late this afternoon, there are 3 fires burning in the canyon between Storrie and Belden. Hwy 70 has been closed from Jarbo Gap to the Greenville Wye (Hwy 89 cutoff) and is not expected to re-open untill at least 6 AM Monday morning.

Maybe next time ya'll decide Quincy is a good place for a stop to eat, I'll be in a better position to join in for lunch and tag along on the ride part way.

What a fabulous Ride Report and Photo Gallery this is! I have already sent PM's to Dave Migliore and madmike2 requesting they let me know when you fine folks plan on doing this ride again. If you post this for next Springtime, I'll be riding there!!!

Looks like we missed a great ride from all the wonderful pictures everyone took. Besides knowing their motorbikes this group can chronicle a mean ride report as well. The bar just keeps getting higher and higher.

If this truly was Rick and Karen’s last group ride I will regret missing it for years to come. :( They are two fantastic people that Christy and I always look forward to riding with. Alaska will just have to jump up on the priority list once they (Ric in Banks?) get settled, find all the good roads to run and places to eat. :yahoo:

Okay. Got some pics uploaded.

Heading up 65 toward the Marysville meeting spot, I came upon Mr. Carter,

travelling at about 50 over posted. ;)

We gathered at the Chevron/Coffee shop place and did howdies.

The gfrans and the Dave Migs.

Roger has a sharp wit. And nice hair.

Geez, I couldn't think of a caption for this one. Not one that I can post.

IMG_0562.jpg

Then we were rollin'.

IMG_5132.jpg

They always make me ride in the back.

IMG_5152.jpg

Then we stopped, ....to annoy other travelers at a rest stop.

IMG_0598.jpg

Bigfoot sighting? Not sure.

IMG_0578.jpg

All the babes ...and Ric. He's very happy.

IMG_0585.jpg

Of course, you gather a crowd of wimmens, and you had to know who'd show up.

"You guys let me lead, or I'll jump."

Man, this gal will be missed. And her old man too, I guess. :D

(Karen, you need to post that pic of your grandchild with that blond mop.

I don't much like kids, but we're talking DOLL.)

Okay. Didn't get any good pics of lunch.

But I was thinking I'd ask Patrick (Rsvlfeej) if he wanted to leave the group for a bit and hit

some fast twistie roads.

"Um, Patrick, do you want to-"

"LET'S GO!!!"

Alrighty.

We took off up Quincy/La Porte Rd., stopped up near the top, and then rode back down, then

zoomed south on 89, jumped on 49, and caught the group in Downieville. Then we took off ahead of

them (they'd eaten all the ice cream anyway) and rode in a spirited manner back to Grass Valley,

and then home. These are some pics of Patrick, when I could get close enough to him.

You don't see many Mavericks any more, huh?

Fire.

It ain't easy taking pictures of this bastard, so forgive the poor composition.

If you ever get the chance to come to this area, and ride with these folks,

you'll never forget it.

Thanks all. Enjoyed the hell out of it.

Patrick-Rsvlfeej has some really nice lean angles in those twisties. His riding posture, lean angles and scenery were very reminiscent of my following Stef-Teerex51 through the Pyrenees in 2008; obviously he is a very good rider. Very nice work!

Old Michael: You were hanging with him, so you were carving it up also! Oustanding photographs and narrative again OM!!!

Thanks beemerdons  . I know you're right about Old Michael's ability. Every time I checked the mirror, there was his yellow helmet. Doubly impressive now that I know he was riding one-handed, taking pics, and still keeping up.

And thanks, Old Michael. I grabbed all the 'leaning' pics - there's definitely some keepers in there :hypocritesmiley:

Follow Patrick into a corner at your peril! Until I rode with Patrick, I thought the FJR was the limit of my cornering speed. Nope. All me.... :(
