enjoy.

Outstanding report, Dave; I really enjoyed the slideshow! If this run occurs again next year, count me in. I'll ride on over!!!

Great pictures, Dave and Susan!

What a great and fun ride with wonderful people!

Surprise Guest Appearance Award: James Burleigh (Hans).

"I just had to ride up and see everyone this morning." (From Concord to Marysville!)

HONORABLE MENTION: Old Michael, Rsvlfeej

Sorry To See You Go Award:

Ric in Sac.

They're moving to Anchorage. Karen will be around for awhile and we'll do what we can to keep her involved.

Funny Incident Awards (2):

1.) We pulled up to the cafe in Quincy and there was a "purple" FJR. The couple was in side and the wife pointed and said to her husband, "Look an FJR...and another...and another..." Evidently they are local, do not belong to the forum and were surprised to see so many crazy people on FJRs.

2.) We stopped @ Bassett's so Anthony could solve his "blinking fuel light syndrome". While parked in the shade waiting for him to complete his transaction a guy pulled up in a motorhome. "I have an FJR," he says. He'd just returned from CO on the bike and was spending the weekend in the Sierras with his wife. We invited him to be more regular checking the ride planning section of the forum!

_____________________________________________________________________

We did lots of stopping and visiting....THAT would have driven Fairlaner more nuts than he already is! Stopped at the rest area along the Feather River, Quincy for lunch, Bassett's overlook, Downieville for ice cream (Sorry, Karen, your guys went the other way!), Grass Valley for gas and Ikeda's in Auburn for snacks before heading home. We watched the setting sun from Auburn then headed downhill to the valley in the dusky twilight rather than riding into the setting sun. I arrived at mi casa in Elk Grove around 8:30 PM @ 357 miles.

Uh...bikeman9 (Roy) had to ride back to the bay area (another 100+ miles)!

What a great time getting to know some of the NorCal group even better.

If you missed this ride....Neener, neener, neener! :bleh:

Personally, I'd be watching the CA Ride Planning page for "Ride to the Wall" and "NorCal Hwy 3-96-299-36", but that's just me!

I'll get my pictures loaded and post them later.

It was great seeing everyone, particularly RsvFeej, whom I (anyone  ) had not seen in a couple of years. (That's what having babies will do to a man.) And it was a surprise seeing Old Michale (kinda like seeing a rattlesnake in your sleeping bag is a surprise, only in a good sense  )

You're right, Mad, although I couldn't make the whole trip, I wanted to see my buds, and in particular catch Ric in Sac and Karen in Sac before they left :cray: for the Great Whacky North (oh, that's right, Alaska has a new governor :clown2: ) ....

Thanks for the pics, Dave.

Yes, I need to organize a Ride to the Wall, with breakfast in Benicia. Last time was on January 3, but I can't wait that long....

Without doubt, the NoCal FJR group has got it going on. What a wonderful ride and report, thanks for the virtual ride along. Hopefully Crzy8 will soon be back on the road.

Terrie and I had a great time, it was nice to see all of you and make some new friends. We were glad that our son Anthony finally went for a ride with us old folks! here are some of the pics we took.

Wow! Some wonderful photos guys. Smile-inducing stuff.

For those who've never gone one one of these NorCal group rides,

you'd be amazed.

This is a really lovable bunch. Talkative (even Steve once he's warmed up), sharp wits, ready smiles,

and warmth that stays with you long after you're home and the day is over.

And did I mention all the pretty gals? You get to hug them all hello and goodbye! :D

(Of course that's neutralized because you'll also get one of those lingering hugs

from HYCLE. )

I'll add some pics later.

Just this now.

- The group in Marysville.

Nice pics Dave, captures the day pretty well. The ride did its job and got us out of our (Me and Deb)"vacation" funk -- great friends for sure.
We had a great time. It was especially heart warming and heart wrenching realzing I am not going to see many of you for a long time -- unless you come to visit! We have a place for you to stay and an fjr and/or pick-up for you to use when you get here.

I will remain on the forum and keep in touch. Heavens knows you all may be my only connection to sanity over the winter [scary thought huh]!

You are all my friends and friends are for life.

Thanks for setting up the ride, MadMike. Good to see both long-time peeps and meet some newbies (to me, anyhow; it sounded like most everybody was already in the fold - to paraphrase JB, kids do tend to keep one out of circulation). Didn't know it was going to be RicInSac and the Den Mother's bon voyage ride, but glad I got to see them off, especially considering how welcoming they were when I did my first group ride.

Don't think the weather could have been nicer (floating ash bits as one approached Grass Valley aside), was pleasantly surprised at what good shape Hwy 49 was in, got in some good conversation time at the stops, and got to do a little mild hooligan riding with OldMichael as we revisited his one-use-only launch pad. Oh yeah, and rolled over 75K on the odometer just as we got onto Hwy 70.

Excellent Day!

You bloody NoCal clowns! You have all the great roads and fun!

Looked like an EXCELLENT time! :yahoo: What a turn out! Invasion of the FeeJ's on the Feather River and Quincy! Cool stuff.

We didn't stop much for pictures on our trip in SoCal, just smoking breaks for you know who. :p

Thanks for sharing and MM2, looks like you have another great ride planned. Like I said all the best raods up there....

Ride safe.
