So about these side vents, should they be in or out in the winter?

Yes!

You are welcome.

It was sunny, dry and a glorious 20ºf on Saturday. Good day for a ride!

Went out for an hour and even saw another biker, guy on a BMW 1200RT. I guess I'm not completely crazy.

I'm still in the 0-600 mile break-in period so not a whole lot to report. But I've got a few adjustments to make coming from an '02 V-Star 1100.

1- Remember, the foot pegs are not out in front. Gotta keep my feet back in order to find the shifter.

2- I don't need to upshift when I hear the revs at 3,500. There is a looong way to go to the redline (and even to the break-in 4,500) This bike has some legs!

3- The roads are horrendous from our long cold winter, but the forks still seem a bit soft. Gonna mess with adjustments before the next ride to firm it up a bit.

4- Lastly, always remember to cover your neck in sub-freezing temps. Forgot to put on my turtle fur and got a bit of frostbite under the chin - ouch.

Glad you were able to get out and ride recently! And by all means, remember to cover up!
