FLATISTAN !!! Love it. Us D/FW locals have our secret favs too, slim pickins though. North Georgia and NC are a day trip away gents, 12 hours from Dallas too. I miss the Smokies and the old awesome FZ1OA rallies. Arkansas calls me twice a year,

I thought this FJ would be the one bike ST solution for me as lighter is better for my worn out knees and general torque corner exiting riding enjoyment, that FJR ride yesterday has me rethinking strategy. Fun bike, awesome engine...not the FJR thing I have enjoyed for 11 years and 65,000 miles now.

That 115 mph speed limiter is obnoxious, I knew it would piss me off. It does. Fiona Feejer hit 130 several times yesterday because I could, safe and sound without a wimper.

I had a blast riding the FJ at the demo rides while in Daytona. Definitely a totally different ride than my FJR. The weight and flickability was fun. "A" mode is the only mode as far as I'm concerned lol. I think I would really miss my FJR if I only had the FJ. If I acquired them in reverse order I can definitely see where I would love it as I don't do a ton of long distance riding, but now I would know what I was missing.

I also had a chance to ride the new FJR and was pleasantly surprised that in the short time and distance I rode it that I felt like I was on my bike and only noticed the difference when I looked at the digital Speedo. I'm sure there are many many improvements etc but in form, function and sound it's still very similar!

Really enjoy demo days!!

Yep, a bunch of complained of the 115 speed limit on the FJ. I guess its not very aerodynamic over that.

My FZ6 (some are restricted outside the US for newbee's) is un-limited.

My Speedohealer has reached a highest speed of 136 MPH locked in the memory. There was a little more left, but not much. The Speedohealer is synced with the GPS so it is accurate.

I rode the FJ-09. It was a blast to ride. Was able to hit some local twisties. The light weight was a hoot. If I bought one it would be an additional bike, not replacing the FJR. That being said, if I am going to drop $10k or greater an additional bike will be a dual sport.
The nice thing about a second bike being a dual sport, Bob, is that you probably won't be spending anywhere near $10k on it (if you are smart). Lots of great DS bikes around at half that. Especially if you intend on a lot of off-roading, which means you will be dropping it, buying a used bike is definitely the way to go there.
