A lot of good information about Streets and Trips. Thanks to Duane and Dave for setting this up, and to Larry for the presentation. Too bad a couple didn't make it, we waited at the *other* address until 10:55 and then high tailed it over to the correct building.

Great seeing everyone again! Made it in plenty of the for my son's skid training class. Was a hoot to watch all the students crabbing the car around the course.

George,

Did you get the FJR out on the course and test you dirt tracking skills?

Didn't have any place safe to temporarily store the bags or I would have. Don't want to scrape up the paint ya know... :D

Yes a good day learning and seeing new stuff, with the 50 or 60 Hr weeks I'm working I think I'll stick to getting lost! For now paper maps and the old 2730 and the home button will have to due. I really would like to learn this stuff better and want to thank Dave & Duane for all of the effort.

+1 on thanks to Dave, Duane and Larry. Great job putting it all together.

Ride to and from was a bit dicey on Blewitt, yet it was well worth the trip. Big thanks to (makuna?) for passing forward his win of the Streets & Trips program. It is greatly appreciated and will be well used.

Looking forward to the video and write up.

I did write down a two of the more interesting websites Larry discussed for finding points of interest (POI) -- Ride to eat and poi-factory

Can't wait to upload those quilting poi into the streets and trips. Dam those dams, it is time to start stitching for those quilt shops.

I'll add my own thanks, here...

First off, thanks to everyone who showed up for this ill-organized adventure. :)

We had 20 people in all make it to the sessions. The pizza managed to find us, and I owe a huge thanks to Larry, and the Streets & Trips team, as well as Lori at Bing Maps. :) Certainly not forgetting Dave - he spoke the words to me a few months back that culminated in yesterday's event, so while many feel this was a "duane" thing, those giving thanks to Dave, as well, are bang on the money. Beyond the idea, though, Dave's contacts and well prepared presentation helped make the event a success with lots of useful info on hand for folks. :)

While overall tings didn't go as smoothly as I'd hoped, I feel it was a great first try. :) Perhaps we can look at making this a regular event, with various topics being covered.

I was also thinking of moving the entire thing online so more people, globally, could attend. Don't know, that might be a whole other project - we'll see.

I had a great time, and it was fantastic to see so many folks - some for the first time, some again. :)

Now looking forward to our tech day next month. :)

Duane, awesome job. It was great getting Larry, the location, and the great door prizes. Nice work!

For all the great links, see BMWMan's post.

I came home and played with Streets and Trips again, putting all the great tips I learned to work. It is a great product, what Mapsource should have been, and the Bing integration with live aerial maps is great way to actually see what the terrain looks like.

For those interested in the photo applications, the Microsoft Photosynth site is www.photosynth.com (this is the one that stiches together all your great photos.

I tried out Glympse today, it worked perfectly and let my wife see where I was on my day ride and when I would be home. Tiger's wife needs this.
