Well, all, it's coming to be that time again.

Yes, after last fall's successful FJR Tech Day, now it's time for FJR Tech Day II!! :yahoo:

Once again, our host will be the one and only BustanutJoker in Owosso, Michigan. PM me or Bust for the address if you'd like to attend.

We have chosen Saturday, April 9, 2011 for Tech Day II.

On the slate so far for this year is:

* Valve check on my bike, and possibly finish up the Admore lights from last fall.

* Valve check and CCT for yamafitter's bike.

So if you want or need to do something to your bike, post up, and put this on your calendar. We had a pretty decent turnout last year.

So come on out and wrench on your bike, or maybe someone elses bike, laugh at my amazing lack of mechanic-y-ness, take some pictures, and maybe drink Bust's beer.

Hope to see you there...

WTF? I'm having a party and nobody told me? I suppose I ain't gettin' no invite either.. :(

Three beds and several air mattresses all inside the house for those so inclined.

Maybe this will get me invited

If memory serves the group administrator banned you last time and you still showed up so why do you need an invite this time?

I'm due for a valve check also. I think we should all work on valve checks at the same time to allow for the opportunity of trading shims (some shims on the bikes are sizes that don't exist in the shim kit). It's not much worse than swapping bodily fluids. Don't worry - I'm clean. Plus I just got neutered last year, so I won't get you pregnant either.

As for Bustanut... I tried to keep him out of the party last time. He doesn't seem to honor Facebook event guest lists, so we might have to employ more drastic measures. If we release a small herd of sheep across town, that should keep him busy all day.

That crazy Geek wants me to tear his bike apart AGAIN!! Will he ever learn?

For those wanting valve checks, remember this is a good opportunity for a coolant change, and don't forget those O-rings in the water pipe above the valve cover. And we'll have to keep the used antifreeze contained so the sheep pets don't get into it....

Ahem.

For the record, you volunteered, remember? :assassin:

Besides, if'n I were to attempt any of the stuff you did last time or are going to do this time, Gawd only knows how many parts I'd have left over.

I've still got a CCS-100 that has to go on, along with bar risers. Finally got the mount built, painted, and ready to go on. Cruise control has been sitting in a box for a year now. I just lack the tools, the space, or the knowledge on getting these things on. Plus, I'm mechanically ********. Be nice to have guys that actually know what they're doing show me how. And one of the bolts at the top of the fuel tank is stripped, so getting that fixed would be nice.

How can I get in on this?

You're in if you can make it here.. Us sheep herders ain't picky as you can see by the few that have been here before ;)

It's 2 hours from your place to here and still one bed open.. However if Andy gets the altitude sickness again the garage floor will work fer him an ya won't have him for a roomie

Oh Andy? I'm still finding parts..

If it is just the screw that stripped we can chase the hole with a tap to clean the threads and replace the bolt. You will want to order the screw and have it ahead of time. If the threads in the hole are ruined then the hole will require a helicoil. I don't have the kit. Does anyone else have the required tool to insert a helicoil?

I believe I just stripped out the head of the screw. Part of not having the right tools in the first place. I'll have the bolt ahead of time. Just bugs me to see one sticking up when I look down.

If I understand correctly you have rounded out the allen socket of the screw. If this is correct you can use hacksaw to cut a slot and then use a standard screwdriver to remove it. If the screw was siezed use an impact driver rather than just a screwdriver. I have a manual impact driver with different bits if you don't want to attempt this yourself and want to wait for the tech day.

Yep, you got it. There's still enough of the head that I think I could get it back out one more time, maybe. I'll just wait til the tech day, then it can be done right with the right tools.
