Hi all, need some advice. I've just had a set of Doablo Strada fitted to my 2001 FJR, Pirelli recommend the E version for the rear, however, the tyre depot only had standard sets in stock. He assured me there is little or no difference so I let him fit them. I've only done cira 200 miles on the new stradas and so far have not noticed anything strange. Has anyone any experience of this. Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Regards

Jim

You are fine running the non "E" spec tire. It actually even has more tread and will yield more mileage. Several here have ran both the "E" and the non "E" tire. IIRC, the "E" spec is supposed to have a stiffer sidewall.

For more specifics, you can PM JeffAshe. This is his favorite tire and he has run through several sets.

I've run about 6000 miles on the non - E.

You are ok.

It is a stiffer sidewall (mainly) for 2 up

The E-series Diablo Strada rear supposedly has a stiffer sidewall and about 1.1mm less tread depth than the standard Diablo Strada.

There are some who say they can tell a handling difference between the two, I cannot. The only time I can tell any difference is when mounting the tire. The E-Series is absolutely the stiffest, most difficult tire to mount that I've ever dealt with.

IMHO, unless you are doing a lot of two-up riding with a total passenger weight that exceeds 400 lbs., I would run the standard Diablo Strada and just enjoy the extra mileage.

Mounted a set of Pirelli Diablo Stradas on 8-4-07 and just hit the cord at 8,589 miles. Mileage wise they were comparable to the results I've experienced on the stock Metzlers, then Michelin Pilot Roads, Avon Azaros and better mileage than the Avon Storms (6k). They were the best performing tire that I've tried on my '06 FJR and I'm going to get a new set from SW Moto Tires (F: $108.95, R: $131.95) who includes the shipping when 2 or more tires are ordered.

PS. Mine were non-E's, as I hadn't realized that I had an option, however, now that I'm enlightened I'm going to order the same Non-E's again.

Another question regarding the Pirelli Diablo Stradas. Do you change the front tire when replacing the rears. The rear hit cord at 8,589 however the front still looks good. I've been ordering from SWMototires.com, who offer free shipping when ordering 2 or more tires. IF it's ok to keep the same fronts, I might order 1 rear and 2 fronts. Opinions? Advice?

Thanks.
