How about that? The "G" as I called it was such a rare bike. Didn't think I'd come across anybody that ever owned one on THIS forum!!!!! Mine was brown, but I painted it black and red after I wrecked it. In the picture above, there's more bondo in that tank than there is gas. The tail light came from a junkyard in Texas and so many parts were rebuilt, epoxied together or "JB welded" and painted. All in all it came out looking and running just fine, and I know there's one guy out there that just loves it. He was so impressed with the condition of the bike - even after I told him all the things I'd repaired and rebuilt - that he gave me a 100 dollars more than I was asking. I was shocked. Betcha never had THAT happen before...I had a '91 as well. It was the maroon color. I did the suspension on mine and it made a world of difference.
The gist of my comment was the fact that if Suzuki would have built a dedicated S/T (not just the catalog add-ons like what they had for the G) based around that engine/final drive back in the late '90's they would have commanded the market place. It would have also made a good building block for the future market place. They just haven't figured out yet that people will pay extra for shaft drive motorcycles.
I'm glad that Yamaha did and builds one of the finest S/T's the world has ever known.
