Quite right. It's one of those ~500 French models that accidentally got delivered to North America. "FJR1300 Tracteur" was the marketing blurb even though my French is rusty.

Besides the gearing, of course, the French rating of 90 KW doesn't bode well when translated to horsepower. IIRC, they're 120 hp. Those French really know how to detune an engine.

On an '05? Probably not a life left on that one. ;)

It's just part of the VIN series. See this thread as an example when I searched on fjr1300t using the forum software.

 
Its an FJR what could be bad about it?

I believe if you own an 05 its nomenclature is AT, 06 is AV, 07 is AW, 08 AX and 09 is AY. Its strictly denotes the year of the bike. If you own one of those over priced turds with no clutch :blink: then its AET or AEV or AEW or AEX or AEY.

Sorry but motorcycles and sports cars should all be pure stick with manual clutches.

I only have 3600 miles on my 05 fjr to me it hasent even been broke in yet

I wouldn't mind one of those FJR1300(ATC) models. I could use some vectoring. Somehow I always get lost trying to get home.

Formula 1 racing cars, World Rally Championship cars, Endurance sports cars? What catagory are they in? Not yet on racing motorcycles, but I bet it's not long. Unless the regulations decide it's too much of an advantage.

Try it before you decry it.

Oh, yes, some early motorcycles had a stick shift lever with a car-like gate. Parhaps you would like that on your motorcycle?

PS. The overpriced turds do have a clutch, just the same as yours. It's just the hardware operating it - and the brain(?) behind that - that's different.

PPS. Personnally, I'd prefer a manual clutch lever, if only my aged and deteriorating joints would allow me to use one. But I'm very happy with my finger-flicking paddle shift.

 
My guess -soon automatics will be the mutt's nuts. I'm waiting for one with a bang shifting, 3000 rpm stall speed converter, B&M, like my old 340 Duster had..

I'll call BULLSHIT here.

Getting mine for $10,500 out the door is hardly overpriced.

Opinions are like assholes...almost everyone has one and you just got mine.

PS. I don't have any disabilities mandating I use an auto clutch I just wanted the new (for an MC) technology.

So at the beginning of your post you say "it's an FJR what could be bad about it?" Then you bad mouth the AE models so apparently you do think there is something wrong with some FJR's. Either that or you were just bored and decided to stir up some s**t!
